Full-time Position Summary:
Manually move casegoods, stock, or other materials to and from trucks for shipping purposes.
Position Responsibilities:
Load and unloading of furniture on/off truck for transport using hand truck, pallet jack, or team lift. Scan tickets for correct location of furniture. Move freight, stock, or other material to and from storage, loading docks, delivery vehicles, ships or containers by hand or using trucks, tractors, or other equipment. Sort cargo before loading and unloading. Attach tickets and acknowledgement numbers to containers or mark them with identifying information. Distinguish the location of how furniture is to be placed and/or shipped. Stack furniture in locations using hand trucks. Record numbers of units handled or moved using daily production sheets or work tickets. Communicate with other departments ensuring complete shipment. Maintain neat and orderly work station; performs housekeeping daily. Ensure area has needed supplies and tools; kept in assigned locations. Wear required safety glasses, work shoes and other PPE as defined for work area; work safely and report unsafe conditions to Dept. Supervisor. Maintain packing materials, recycled cardboard, recycled pallets, and disposables per company housekeeping guidelines. Understand and ensure packing specifications are met. Measure, weigh, count items against pack slips. Works with team to keep dock doors unblocked and free of debris. Record product, packaging, and order fulfillment information on specified forms and computer based records. Performs stretching exercises. Performs other duties as required by supervisor.
Essential Skills and Experience:
2 years of warehouse experience Must be knowledgeable in upholstery packing methods. English required for reading tickets and job notes. Must be organized and able to coordinate multiple tasks. Must be able to effectively communicate with others. Must have an understanding of numbers and know how to count. Must be able to properly distinguish different products and have directional skills.
Physical demands and work environment:
Lift /
Carry:
lift up to 100 lbs.; team lift greater weights. Most of the weight is moved by some type of equipment: hand truck, forklift, and team lift.
Manual Dexterity :
The ability to quickly move your hand, your hand together with your arm, or your two hands to grasp, manipulate, or maneuver objects.
Standing/Walking:
Must be able to stand and walk 8+ hours. Reach /
Handle:
Using hands and arms in handling, installing, positioning, and moving materials, and manipulating things.
Crouch/Bend/Stoop/Kneel/Crawl:
Frequently required when moving a furniture item. Push /
Pull:
Frequently moving furniture items on/off pack conveyor or tables or sliding across floor.
Environment:
Indoors, environmentally controlled - 100%.
Automation:
Conveyor system, battery operated pallet jack used for positioning when needed.
Near Vision:
The ability to see details at close range (within a few feet of the observer).
Static Strength:
The ability to exert maximum muscle force to lift, push, pull, or carry objects.
Trunk Strength:
The ability to use your abdominal and lower back muscles to support part of the body repeatedly or continuously over time without 'giving out' or fatiguing.
