Order Picker Job Description The Order Picker plays a key role in the warehouse operation by accurately picking, packing, stocking, and receiving a wide range of plumbing materials. This position works with both large items, such as metal and PVC piping, and small components like fasteners and endcaps, using RF devices, material handling equipment, and basic computer systems to support efficient order fulfillment and customer service. Responsibilities Use RF scan guns to locate, verify, and track inventory accurately. Correctly pick, pack, and pull items according to type, quantity, and order specifications. Operate pallet jacks, forklifts, and push carts safely to move and stage inventory based on item size and type. Organize the staging area by priority to ensure efficient order processing and workflow. Maintain a clean and orderly work environment, including sweeping and mopping as needed. Operate computers at the will-call booth to process orders and manage item lookups. Assist internal and external customers with item lookups, availability checks, and order placement. Support shipping, receiving, and general material handling activities as needed. Handle a variety of products ranging from long piping to small bolts and fasteners with care and accuracy. Essential Skills Preferred background in warehouse, order picking, or general labor roles. Ability to count accurately and maintain high attention to detail when picking and packing orders. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and maneuver items up to 100 lbs as needed. Experience with RF devices or RF scan guns for inventory and order management. Experience with forklifts or willingness to operate forklifts after on-site training and certification. Experience using pallet jacks and other basic warehouse material handling equipment. Ability to work with both large items (such as 10-15 ft pipes) and small components (such as bolts and fasteners). Basic computer skills to operate systems at the will-call booth for order processing and item lookups. Ability to communicate effectively in English in a warehouse and customer-facing environment. Comfort working in a physically demanding role that involves frequent standing, walking, lifting, and moving materials. Additional Skills & Qualifications Prior receiving experience in a warehouse environment, with a focus on verifying and stocking incoming materials. Hands-on experience in shipping, receiving, inventory, or material handling roles. Previous experience in an indoor/outdoor warehouse setting handling plumbing supplies or construction materials. Familiarity with order pulling processes and staging orders for pickup or delivery. Demonstrated ability to provide helpful, service-oriented support to both internal and external customers. Work Environment The role is based in a large warehouse filled with plumbing supplies, including 10-15 ft pipes, metal and PVC piping, and small bolts and fasteners. Work takes place both indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions, so you must be comfortable working in very hot summers and very cold winters. The environment is active and physically demanding, involving frequent movement, lifting, and operation of equipment such as pallet jacks, forklifts, RF scan guns, and computers at the will-call booth. The facility emphasizes safety, cleanliness, and organization, and team members help maintain a tidy workspace through regular sweeping and general housekeeping. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Tigard, OR. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $21.00/hr.
