Shipper/Packer (2nd Shift)

Our client, Reed Manufacturing, is seeking a Shipper/Packer to join their organization. This position requires a detail oriented, proactive, independent, and self-driven individual who is experienced and knowledgeable in the preparation of tools and products for shipping. Shift - 2nd Shift Salary - $21.05/hr. (plus $.60 shift differential for 2nd shift)

Primary Responsibilities and Objectives :

Inspects tools carefully, according to individual instruction sheets, to ensure that no tools with defects reach the customer. Ensure that stock orders for tools are complete & prepare all product identification stickers, tags, and labels per required specifications. Pack the tools and ensure that appropriate instructions, etc. are contained in the materials boxes for successful shipping. Makes correct count, completes required paperwork, and transports product to the correct inventory area or shipping area as required and appropriate. Select the appropriate shipping source based on order priority; pick the order(s); check the products to be shipped versus the order requirements; ensure that all the required paperwork/details are correct and complete; complete the order & inform the sales department/drivers of the completion of the order preparation process. Completes other packing/shipping related duties as well as assist with inventory and stockroom duties as appropriate. Responds to rush orders promptly, contacts truckers for pickups, monitor back orders for earliest shipment. Additionally, drives, receives and maintains 2nd and 3rd floor inventories of finished tools. Learns stockroom sufficiently to obtain tools and parts to fill pick lists. Finally, informs Purchasing when various inventories are low, especially boxes and cartons Able to use jitneys or hand trucks Other duties as assigned by management Additional Job Duties Performs regular duties with minimal supervision. Achieves a reasonable personal daily output. Reports machine or equipment repair requirements and quality problems to supervisor. Fills out time slips and other necessary paperwork on a complete and timely basis. Operates in a manner to promote the safety of self and other Reed employees. Make suggestions for improvements and acts to help all Reed associates maximize profit sharing payouts over the long term. Educational, Experience, Knowledge and Skills High school diploma or equivalent Basic computer skills Minimum 1-3 years of working in a manufacturing environment, preferably in shipping or in a hands-on mechanical role are required. Courses in shop practice and machining experience desirable. Must have good written, verbal skills, and mathematical abilities. Must do careful and accurate work. Must know REED product line, and tool locations Willingness to continue learning to improve skills, to keep current with new equipment and methods and to be able to train other associates as needed. All candidates under consideration will be required to submit to a drug screen as well as undergo a background and reference check.
