POSITION SUMMARY
The Shipper role is critical to the logistics and distribution process for our manufacturing facility. Shippers are responsible for preparing, organizing, and overseeing the shipment of finished products to customers or other destinations.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
Perform general warehouse activities such as: Pick material Load floor stacked and palletized material Operate mobile equipment (pallet rider and forklift) Palletize product for loads Unload and put away incoming products Read and understand orders Cube trailers for the material to fit properly Able to load multiple stop trailers Keep track of cartons loaded per truck/hour Observe al established safety guidelines Responsible for 5-S housekeeping Must be able to perform quality and accurate Loading Responsible for following good inventory practices
REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS
Must be Safety oriented. Must have experience/or demonstrate willingness to learn how to operate hand-held scanner, and PC to enter shipping data Must take proper care of equipment and company property Able and willing to work overtime Able to work in a hot, fast-paced environment on feet 8 or more hours a day Able to use small hand tools High School Diploma or GED preferred Experience with manufacturing/ plastics extrusion industry desirable Product (vinyl siding) knowledge desirable 2 years of Forklift experience preferred
WORK ENVIRONMENT
The atmosphere is that of a manufacturing plant. The position will primarily work where moving machinery produces noise. Employees must wear Personal Protective Equipment that is issued for that location. Temperature can range from extreme cold to extreme heat. Physical demands may include standing, walking, sitting, lifting, carrying, climbing, pushing/pulling, forward bending, reaching, kneeling, crouching, squatting, crawling, postural balancing, manipulating, trunk rotation, handling, gripping, and talking (hearing).
