Our mission is preserve each practice's legacy, empower its leadership team, and deliver exceptional client value through strategic growth and operational excellence. Role Overview This is a high-velocity, deal-sourcing role at the tip of the spear of our acquisition strategy. You will be responsible for identifying proprietary deal flow and managing the front-end of the M&A funnel. You'll be running heavy outbound prospecting cold calls, targeted outreach, and persistent follow-up build pipeline from scratch. You'll also be the trusted guide for accounting firm owners who are often retirement-age, cautious, and emotionally attached their firms. Success here means balancing grit with grace: you must be comfortable with sustained activity and measurable weekly targets, and equally skilled at deep listening, empathy, and handling sensitive conversations about legacy and succession.
Location:
Mon-Thurs onsite in Irvine, CA (remote Fridays) with occasional travel client offices and industry events. Key Responsibilities Research and qualify targets thoroughly: map firm ownership, size, revenue, client mix, and trigger events that indicate retirement interest. Lead the first discovery conversations with empathy: listen for personal goals, family dynamics, legacy concerns, and timing, then translate those human details into actionable next steps.
Convert outreach into outcomes:
advance prospects through stages (qualification discovery LOI close) and own the documentation and handoff M&A and integration teams. Maintain and update CRM daily with activity, notes, next steps, and pipeline metrics; deliver a concise weekly report of activity and deal status. Maintain a robust pipeline in the CRM; deliver weekly updates on outreach, meetings, and deal status. Initiate contact via cold calls, networking events, referrals, and industry conferences. Serve as a trusted listener and advisor for accounting firm owners exploring retirement and succession. Negotiate and draft LOIs in collaboration with the CEO, focusing on win-win terms that respect the owner's legacy while protecting company interests. Represent the firm at industry events, bar associations, and referral partner meetings; sourcing leads while consistently demonstrating professionalism and empathy. Practice relentless follow-up and impeccable pipeline hygiene: persistent outreach without pressure, timely check-ins, and an organized cadence for long-timeline prospects. Meet or exceed quarterly targets for signed letters of intent and completed acquisitions.
Qualifications Education & Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field. 3-7+ years in Private Equity business development, M&A origination, or high-end professional services. Track record of cold-calling at scale and booking meetings that convert. Organizational skills with CRM experience (HubSpot, or similar). High integrity and discretion; able discuss sensitive personal and financial matters.
