Job Description

Position Summary Oversee all aspects of product and MRO inventory to ensure on‑time delivery that meets production demands and customer requirements. Lead and manage the Materials Department. Essential Functions Coordinate all activities related to procurement of product for both stock and project‑specific needs. Analyze stocking requirements, including specifications, preferred suppliers, and required delivery dates. Control stock levels and develop plans to utilize overstocks and obsolete materials. Serve as the primary contact for all inventory audits, collaborating with internal and external auditing groups. Maintain inventory at required levels across the local plant, offsite warehouses, and coating facilities. Conduct annual physical inventory counts at offsite locations. Coordinate product deliveries, working with Shipping leadership regarding approved carriers. Support month‑end inventory processes with a focus on reconciliations and discrepancy investigations. Communicate supply delays and impacts to production scheduling and plant leadership. Ensure products are delivered on schedule, at negotiated pricing, and meet quality standards. Maintain accurate control of orders, amendments, shipping notices, and related documentation. Enter purchase orders and maintain purchasing logs and controls. Report quality issues to plant leadership. Collaborate with Accounts Payable on supplier and vendor invoices. Communicate effectively with all departments regarding deliveries, shortages, delays, and potential issues. Assist with purchasing of accessories, packaging, and plant supplies as needed. Conduct timely performance reviews for direct reports. Complete required training. Comply with all safety policies and procedures. Perform other related duties as assigned. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Experience with month‑end inventory execution and inventory databases. Strong computer skills, including Excel and QuickBooks proficiency. Excellent math skills, including percentages, fractions, and unit conversions (inches, feet, meters, centimeters, area calculations). Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work in time‑sensitive and occasionally stressful environments. Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and research solutions with minimal guidance. Highly resourceful and self‑motivated. Education and Experience Minimum of two years of procurment experience required. Experience in the flat‑rolled product industry preferred. Prior experience with MRP systems preferred. Experience executing month‑end inventory processes. Physical Requirements Ability to sit for extended periods; walk, stand, climb, and reach. Professional phone etiquette. Ability to wear required PPE. Occasional exposure to manufacturing environments (noise, temperature extremes, humidity, odors, dust). Ability to use a computer and standard software effectively. Other physical requirements as needed to perform essential functions. Working Environment Work is performed in an industrial manufacturing environment with exposure to moving mechanical parts, dust, chemicals, high noise levels, and temperature extremes. This position is designated as safety‑sensitive.
