Job Description

Senior Purchasing Advisor IV (Procurement Capability & Training Development) Role Overview We are seeking an experienced, strategic, and autonomous Senior Purchasing Advisor IV to lead the development, execution, and continuous improvement of enterprise procurement training programs and process optimization initiatives. In this role, you will act as a senior subject matter expert, translating complex procurement policies, contract frameworks, and negotiation best practices into practical, action-oriented learning experiences that enhance contract literacy and organizational effectiveness. This is a high-impact advisory and project leadership position that blends advanced procurement execution (~30%) with specialized training curriculum development and capability building (~70%). You will partner closely with Procurement leadership, Legal, and Enterprise Learning & Development (EL&D) teams to design scalable, repeatable solutions, resolve operational pain points, and ensure adherence to corporate governance and risk management standards. Key Responsibilities Procurement Training & Capability Development
  • Curriculum Design & Delivery:
    Lead the development, compilation, approval, and execution of comprehensive, action-heavy procurement training programs tailored for buyers, agents, and contract professionals.
  • Content Translation:
    Translate complex procurement policies, commercial agreements, and negotiation frameworks into accessible, structured, and practical learning modules that minimize operational and contractual risk.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration:
    Partner with the Enterprise Learning & Development (EL&D) team, Procurement leadership, and Legal stakeholders to deliver structured, enterprise-aligned educational initiatives. Strategic Procurement & Process Optimization
  • Process Improvement:
    Apply advanced business process improvement principles to design standardized, scalable, and repeatable workflows that enhance procurement capability.
  • Commercial Strategy & Negotiations:
    Review and negotiate complex commercial agreements, volume discounts, and supplier contracts for technical equipment, systems, and services.
  • Cost & Risk Management:
    Identify, drive, and implement procurement approaches to deliver lowest total cost solutions, cost savings strategies, and risk mitigation frameworks across the organization. Qualifications & Requirements Minimum Qualifications
  • Education:
    Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field (or equivalent combination of education and professional experience).
  • Experience Baseline:
    oMinimum of 7 to 10+ years of professional experience in supply chain management, strategic procurement, and/or contract management.
•
Technical & Functional Mastery:
oDemonstrated ability to design, develop, and deliver action-oriented training programs in complex, cross-functional corporate environments. oStrong working knowledge of commercial contract terms, procurement workflows, and supplier negotiation dynamics. oProven experience collaborating with Legal and Learning & Development teams to translate intricate subject matter into clear operational content. oExceptional project management skills, including planning, stakeholder coordination, and tracking milestone execution.
  • Core Competencies:
    Outstanding facilitation, written, and verbal communication skills; proven ability to influence at multiple organizational levels; strong analytical and problem-solving acumen. Preferred Attributes
  • Direct experience working within utility, heavily regulated industries, or large enterprise procurement environments.
  • Specialized experience developing targeted training curricula specifically for procurement agents, category managers, or contract professionals.
