This role is responsible for sourcing materials, managing supplier relationships, tracking purchase orders, coordinating deliveries, and making sure field crews and project teams have the right materials on time. The ideal candidate has strong plumbing material knowledge, understands construction schedules, and can work closely with project managers, foremen, vendors, and accounting to keep purchasing accurate, cost-effective, and organized. Responsibilities Purchase plumbing materials, fixtures, equipment, and supplies for projects, service calls, and warehouse needs. Create, review, and manage purchase orders, material requests, quotes, order confirmations, and delivery schedules. Coordinate with project managers, foremen, and field crews to understand material needs, deadlines, jobsite conditions, and priority items. Source vendors, compare pricing, negotiate costs, and secure the best value while maintaining quality and availability. Maintain strong relationships with plumbing suppliers, manufacturers, and vendor representatives. Track material deliveries, backorders, substitutions, damaged items, and missing materials. Review plans, specs, submittals, and project requirements to ensure correct materials are ordered. Support fixture packages, rough plumbing materials, underground materials, finish materials, tools, and specialty items. Monitor inventory levels and help manage warehouse stock, commonly used materials, and reorder needs. Work with accounting to confirm pricing, receipts, invoices, purchase orders, and job cost coding. Help reduce material waste, unnecessary purchases, duplicate orders, and rush-order costs. Communicate clearly with vendors and internal teams regarding lead times, delivery issues, and urgent material needs. Assist with procurement planning for upcoming projects to avoid delays and improve project efficiency. Requirements Experience in plumbing purchasing, construction purchasing, supply house sales, project coordination, or a related role. Strong knowledge of plumbing materials, fixtures, rough-in materials, finish materials, tools, and common plumbing parts. Ability to read or understand basic plumbing plans, specifications, material lists, and project requirements. Strong vendor coordination, pricing comparison, and negotiation skills. Experience creating and managing purchase orders, quotes, invoices, and delivery tracking. Good communication skills and ability to work with office staff, field crews, foremen, project managers, and suppliers. Strong organization and follow-up skills, especially when managing multiple projects and urgent material requests. Ability to track details accurately, including quantities, model numbers, costs, delivery dates, and job names. Basic computer skills and experience with purchasing software, spreadsheets, email, and construction management systems. Ability to work in a fast-paced construction environment and prioritize urgent jobsite needs. Preferred Qualifications Prior experience working for a plumbing contractor or plumbing supply house. Knowledge of project submittals, fixture schedules, takeoffs, and construction timelines. Familiarity with job costing, cost codes, inventory tracking, and material budget control. Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus.
