The purchasing agent is responsible for researching and comparing suppliers, goods, and services. Then, they select the most suitable ones in terms of reliability, product quality, and cost-efficiency to ensure that their company is getting a good deal from the purchase. Responsibilities
  • Prepare purchase orders for requisitions and ensure proper signatures prior to order placement.
  • Ensure purchase orders content by verifying specifications and price; obtaining recommendations from suppliers for substitute items; obtaining approval from requisitioning department.
  • Confirms receipt of mill specifications for materials received, distribute, and archive accordingly.
  • Keeps information accessible by sorting and filing documents.
  • Verifies purchase requisitions by comparing items requested to master list; clarifying unclear items; recommending alternatives.
  • Perform physical stocking and inventory control as required.
  • Forward available inventory items by verifying stock; scheduling delivery.
  • Obtains purchased items by forwarding orders to suppliers; monitoring and expediting orders.
  • Verifies receipt of items and services by comparing items received to items ordered; resolves shipments in error with suppliers.
  • Confirm delivery and inventory received purchases and record and disseminate stored location as needed.
  • Authorizes payment for purchases by forwarding receiving documentation.
  • Provides purchasing planning and control information by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data and trends.
  • Consistently review alternated pricing and established lead times to provide estimating and project management current and accurate information.
  • Support the management of the warehouse function and its staff.
  • Review inventory and stocking procedures, make recommendations to streamline restocking and material kitting.
  • Manage raw material storage and location of inventoried items. Skills and Abilities required
  • Manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Management and coaching principles with strong leadership skills.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Great Attention to detail.
  • Computer Skills - Microsoft Word, Excel
  • Must be highly motivated and able to work independently.
  • Exerting up to 50 pounds of force rarely, lift up to 20 pounds occasionally, and Lift up to 10 pounds frequently.
  • Ability to complete all tasks under differentiating office and plant environments including Loud Noises, Noxious Odors, Chemicals, Moving Mechanical Parts, Varying Weather Conditions. Education / experience
  • High School Graduate or equivalent.
  • B.S. or similar industry experience
  • Minimum 5 years Supervisor experience, including employee relations, performance management, hiring, training, and coaching Pay Range/Benefits
  • Competitive hourly wage (based on experience) $25-35 per hour
