Position Summary The Account / Program Manager is responsible for the day-to-day management of assigned customer accounts and military vehicle programs. This position serves as the primary liaison between the customer and internal departments to ensure all contractual, technical, procurement, quality, and delivery requirements are successfully executed. The role requires program management, procurement coordination, technical comprehension, and customer communication skills within a military spare parts and defense support environment involving platforms such as tanks, artillery systems, armored vehicles, and related military equipment.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Serve as the primary point of contact for all assigned customer and program communications. Process customer RFQs and evaluate technical and contractual requirements. Define and communicate customer requirements internally to all applicable departments. Review customer quality clauses and ensure all contractual requirements are met. Research historical procurement records and prior sourcing history for similar requirements. Prepare and submit quotations to customers in a timely manner. Process, review, and manage customer purchase orders throughout the program lifecycle. Ensure all contract obligations, schedules, and deliverables are completed accurately and on time. Coordinate activities between Purchasing, Sales, Quality, Warehouse, and Accounting departments. Interface directly with customers regarding delivery issues, non-conformances, shortages, and corrective actions. Identify and evaluate sources of supply using internal databases, supplier networks, industry resources, and internet research. Review and approve purchasing documents to ensure compliance with customer specifications and contractual requirements prior to supplier issuance. Issue Requests for Quote (RFQs) to vendors and suppliers. Negotiate pricing, lead times, and procurement terms to obtain the best value while maintaining quality and delivery requirements. Monitor supplier performance and follow up on open orders, shortages, and delivery schedules. Manage military spare parts programs involving equipment such as armored vehicles, tanks, artillery systems, and related defense platforms including Bradley, M109, Howitzer, and similar military equipment. Oversee and support assigned administrative or support staff as required.
Qualifications & Requirements:
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documentation. Understanding of military procurement and defense-related contractual requirements. Written and verbal communication skills. Organizational and multitasking abilities. Ability to work independently and manage multiple customer programs simultaneously. Analytical, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
Education:
Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering is highly preferred. Equivalent experience in a machine shop, manufacturing, military vehicle support, or defense-related environment may be considered in lieu of degree requirements.
Experience:
Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience and/or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Previous Program Management experience involving military vehicle programs, military spare parts, armored vehicle systems, artillery systems, or defense-related contracts preferred. Background in Supply Chain Management, sourcing, procurement, and supplier negotiations is a plus. Experience working in ISO-certified manufacturing or defense support environments preferred.
