Sourcing & Procurement Manager Business Operations/Management Libertyville, Illinois Direct Hire Jun 11, 2026 Sourcing & Procurement Manager (Onsite)
Primary Location:
Libertyville, Illinois V-Soft Consulting is currently hiring for a Sourcing & Procurement Manager for our premier client in Libertyville, Illinois. Education and Experience » Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Operations, or Engineering. APICS (CPIM/CSCP) or CPSM certifications are a strong plus. 7+ years of progressive procurement experience in a manufacturing environment, with at least 3 years directly managing Chinese supplier networks and international logistics.
Logistics Expertise:
Deep knowledge of maritime shipping, port operations, customs clearance, and domestic freight lanes (FTL/LTL).
Analytical Capabilities:
Advanced proficiency in ERP/MRP systems and data analysis tools (e.g., advanced Excel modeling, business intelligence tools) to forecast and manage inventory ratios. Exceptional cross-cultural communication and negotiation skills. Proficiency in Mandarin or experience utilizing on-the-ground third-party sourcing agents is highly preferred. Reduction:
Year-over-year cost savings across raw materials and freight tariffs. Inventory Turnover Ratio /
Days of Supply:
Maximizing capital efficiency without stockouts. Supplier OTD (On-Time Delivery): Tracking inbound reliability from international and domestic origins.
Lead Time Compression:
Reducing the port-to-factory-floor cycle time.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
Job Responsibilities:
Global Sourcing & Supplier Development (
Focus:
China):
Footprint Expansion:
Proactively identify, audit, and onboard tier-1 and tier-2 manufacturers in China to expand sourcing options, build supply redundancy, and drive cost-competitive bidding. Supplier Relationship Management (SRM): Manage and develop relationships with international suppliers, monitoring key metrics such as quality, lead-time reliability, and financial stability.
Contract Negotiation:
Formulate and execute master supply agreements, managing complex variables including Incoterms, payment terms, and tariff mitigation strategies. Strategic Raw Materials Management (Multi-Site Domestic):
Multi-Site Strategy:
Develop centralized procurement strategies that aggregate volume across all domestic production facilities to maximize leverage while meeting site-specific technical requirements.
Risk Mitigation:
Monitor global market dynamics, commodity pricing indexes, and geopolitical factors to hedge risks associated with raw material shortages or price volatility.
Cross-Functional Alignment:
Partner with Plant Managers, Quality Control, and Engineering teams to validate alternative materials and ensure a seamless pipeline of material availability.
Global & Domestic Freight Optimization:
Logistics Network Design:
Evaluate, select, and develop robust partnerships with international ocean/air freight forwarders, customs brokers, and domestic Less-Than-Truckload (LTL)/Full-Truckload (FTL) carriers.
Freight Cost & Performance Auditing:
Establish benchmarks for transit times, container utilization, and port-to-plant logistics costs, regularly reviewing freight forwarder performance against Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
Compliance:
Ensure absolute compliance with customs regulations, import duties, and documentation requirements (Bills of Lading, automated broker interfaces) to prevent port delays.
Inventory Analytics & Working Capital Management:
Inventory Modeling:
Establish and maintain optimal inventory levels (Safety Stock, Reorder Points, and Economic Order Quantities) utilizing MRP/ERP software parameters.
Working Capital Optimization:
Balance the competing priorities of minimizing cash tied up in inventory with maintaining high material availability (fill rate) to support volatile manufacturing schedules.
SIOP Engagement:
Actively participate in the Sales, Inventory, and Operations Planning (SIOP) process to align procurement velocity with changing demand forecasts. Interested?
