Job Description
O The Inventory Manager/Purchaser is responsible for overseeing purchasing and inventory management across all Wilson Landscape Supply locations. This strategic, hybrid role ensures the company maintains proper stock levels of bulk materials, palletized hardgoods, and accessory products (including adhesives, tools, and landscape lighting) while controlling costs, supporting sales alignment, and optimizing use of the Sage 100 platform. The position includes flexibility to work both remotely and on-site as needed. The Inventory Manager will lead routine vendor negotiations, manage inventory distribution across multiple yards, work closely with the company's logistics manager to coordinate the efficient movement of materials, provide pricing/margin recommendations, and generate monthly and quarterly reporting to ownership. This position plays a critical role in balancing cost control, operational efficiency, and accurate forecasting across the business. Key Responsibilities Inventory Management
- Monitor stock levels across all locations and ensure timely replenishment of bulk materials, palletized products, and accessory items such as adhesives, tools, and lighting products.
- Manage redistribution of inventory between yards, coordinating with yard managers and dispatchers.
- Oversee physical inventory processes and maintain accuracy within Sage 100.
- Anticipate seasonal needs and align purchasing decisions with sales demand and production lead times. Purchasing & Vendor Management
- Manage day-to-day vendor relationships, negotiating pricing, terms, and deliveries.
- Place purchase orders in Sage 100, ensuring alignment with budget and operational requirements.
- Provide recommendations on pricing and margins based on vendor costs and market trends (final approval by ownership/sales leadership).
- Maintain strong vendor performance tracking and provide input on potential new products or suppliers. System Optimization & Reporting
- Lead efforts to improve the use of Sage 100 for purchasing, reporting, and inventory control.
- Implement processes that improve accuracy, efficiency, and forecasting.
- Produce monthly and quarterly reports on product turnover, vendor performance, cost trends, as well as additional reporting as requested by leadership. Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with sales staff to align purchasing decisions with customer demand and project-specific orders.
- Partner with yard managers and the logistics manager to ensure accurate transfers and stock distribution.
- Collaborate with leadership to forecast seasonal and long-term inventory needs. Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in inventory management, supply chain, or purchasing.
- Proficiency with Sage 100 and Microsoft Excel.
- Strong understanding of vendor management and purchasing best practices.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work cross-functionally with sales, operations, logistics, and yard teams.
- High attention to detail with strong problem-solving abilities. Work Environment
- Hybrid position: ability to work remotely and on-site as business needs require.
- Must be able to travel between Wilson Landscape Supply locations as needed.
- Occasional work outdoors to inspect and verify inventory.
Pay:
$70,000.00- $75,000.
