Role:
Own the sourcing strategy, supplier relationships, and commercial execution for VulcanForms? post-processing capital equipment and subcontracted services. Lead procurement for heat treatment furnaces, depowdering systems, build-plate separation equipment, machining, coating, HIP, EDM, and finishing services while partnering with Engineering and Operations to support a rapidly scaling production environment.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and own the multiyear category strategy for post-processing capital equipment and services
  • Lead sourcing, negotiation, and contracting with equipment OEMs and subcontracted service providers
  • Negotiate pricing, delivery terms, warranties, spare-parts packages, consumables, and service agreements
  • Partner with Engineering and Operations on equipment specifications, supplier qualification, factory acceptance testing, and commissioning milestones
  • Manage the end-to-end procurement lifecycle for post-processing CAPEX, from business-case support and budget alignment through purchase-order execution and delivery confirmation
  • Build and maintain a qualified supplier panel for machining, coating, HIP, EDM, finishing, and other post-processing services
  • Manage supplier performance against cost, quality, delivery, and turnaround-time metrics
  • Develop should-cost models and total-cost-of-ownership frameworks for capital purchases and subcontracted scopes
  • Provide independent cost benchmarking to Engineering and Finance
  • Identify and mitigate supply risks across the equipment and services supply base
  • Maintain category risk registers and single-source mitigation plans
  • Negotiate initial spares and consumables packages at the time of equipment purchase
  • Establish replenishment frameworks and coordinate handoff to the Indirect Global Category Manager
  • Define and deliver annual savings and cost-avoidance plans
  • Report category pipeline, spend, savings, risk, and delivery metrics to the VP of Supply Chain
  • Scope, onboard, and develop category-specialist support as the team expands
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor?s degree required; Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Materials Science, Supply Chain, or a related field preferred
  • Ten-plus years of progressive procurement or supply chain experience
  • At least five years managing capital equipment or industrial equipment categories
  • Demonstrated experience sourcing and contracting complex industrial or manufacturing capital equipment
  • Experience with OEM negotiations, factory acceptance testing, and multisite delivery programs
  • Technical fluency in post-processing or precision-manufacturing equipment, including heat treatment, machining, coating, or surface-finishing systems
  • Strong financial acumen, including CAPEX budget management, should-cost modeling, and lease-versus-buy analysis
  • Ability to translate technical requirements into commercial strategies in partnership with Engineering and Operations
  • Exceptional negotiation and supplier relationship-management skills
  • Ability to operate independently and make sound procurement decisions in a fast-moving, technically complex environment
Preferred:
  • Experience in additive manufacturing, aerospace, defense, or medical-device manufacturing
  • Hands-on familiarity with heat treatment, HIP, EDM, precision machining, or related supply chains
  • Experience managing subcontracted manufacturing services in regulated environments
  • Familiarity with
AS9100, ISO
13485, or NADCAP require Active Filters
