Role :

The Director of Procurement leads purchasing and procurement strategy across the Compressed Gas Division, supporting seven manufacturing facilities and five service locations. The role is responsible for steel and direct-material purchasing, strategic supplier relationships, contract and pricing negotiations, inventory management, and cost-reduction initiatives. As steel represents the division's largest procurement spend, this position plays a key role in mill-direct and warehouse steel purchasing, forecasting, market analysis, supplier strategy, and material availability. The Director works closely with Plant Buyers, General Managers, Operations, and executive leadership across a decentralized, multi-site manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities :

Lead procurement strategy and purchasing activities across the division. Manage mill-direct and warehouse steel purchasing, including forecasting, pricing, volumes, timing, and supplier relationships. Monitor steel and commodity markets to support effective purchasing decisions and manage supply risk. Negotiate strategic supplier agreements, pricing, and commercial terms for steel, LPG components, truck/trailer parts, and other direct materials. Partner with Plant Buyers and General Managers to ensure material availability, purchasing consistency, and supplier performance. Lead inventory optimization, turnover, and working-capital improvement initiatives. Identify and implement cost-saving opportunities and report results to executive leadership. Analyze procurement and inventory data to support forecasting, purchasing decisions, and management reporting. Identify opportunities for supplier consolidation and purchasing synergies across business units.

Qualifications :

10+ years of progressive procurement, purchasing, strategic sourcing, or supply chain experience, including at least 5 years in manufacturing. Direct mill steel purchasing experience strongly preferred, with knowledge of steel grades, mill lead times, pricing, and market dynamics. Proven experience negotiating strategic supplier agreements and managing significant direct-material spend. Demonstrated success delivering measurable cost savings and inventory improvements. Experience in a multi-site or decentralized manufacturing environment preferred. Strong knowledge of inventory management, working capital, supplier performance, and material planning. Strong analytical skills with proficiency in Excel, ERP, and inventory management systems. Excellent negotiation, communication, and influencing skills.
