This is a highly visible leadership role responsible for identifying new products, developing global supplier relationships, negotiating vendor agreements, overseeing import logistics, and managing a team of buyers. The ideal candidate combines strong procurement and supply chain expertise with a strategic mindset for product innovation and market expansion. Success will be measured by supplier performance, new product development, cost optimization, inventory availability, supply chain efficiency, and the successful leadership of the purchasing team. Responsibilities Lead international sourcing and procurement activities across multiple product categories Develop and maintain relationships with overseas manufacturers and suppliers Identify and onboard new vendors, products, and sourcing opportunities Negotiate pricing, contracts, payment terms, and supply agreements Manage purchase orders, supplier performance, and vendor issue resolution Oversee import operations, freight coordination, customs processes, and logistics management Monitor inventory levels and partner with internal stakeholders to ensure product availability Research market trends, emerging products, and industry opportunities Lead new product development initiatives and supplier-driven innovation efforts Attend industry trade shows and visit supplier facilities to identify new business opportunities Manage and develop a team of buyers and procurement personnel Collaborate with sales, operations, and leadership teams on strategic sourcing initiatives Analyze costs, margins, and supplier performance to drive continuous improvement Establish processes and reporting to improve procurement effectiveness and accountability Qualifications 5+ years of experience in procurement, sourcing, purchasing, supply chain, or vendor management leadership Experience working with international suppliers and overseas manufacturing partners Strong negotiation and vendor relationship management skills Experience managing imports, freight logistics, and customs processes Demonstrated success identifying and launching new products or product categories Experience leading, mentoring, or managing procurement teams Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities Excellent communication and relationship-building skills Ability to balance strategic planning with hands-on execution Packaging, manufacturing, distribution, consumer products, or industrial products experience preferred Experience attending trade shows and developing supplier networks preferred Knowledge of inventory planning and supply chain best practices preferred Compensation & Benefits Salary range: $120,000 - $150,000 base salary Potential flexibility for exceptional candidates with extensive industry experience Healthcare benefits Paid Time Off (PTO) Opportunity to lead a critical function within a growing organization Direct exposure to executive leadership and strategic decision-making About the Employer Our client is a well-established packaging and industrial solutions provider serving businesses throughout the Northeast.
