Job Description:
Category Manager - Direct Procurement Full-Time, 40 hours per week. Monday - Friday; Hours vary in between 8:00am-5:00pm. Hybrid Work Schedule - Must be willing to come on-site 3 days per week (Downers Grove). Category Manager Direct Procurement will provide support and management for all categories within the Duly portfolio of pharmaceuticals and medical supplies. Through a focus on innovation, this leader will utilize their strategic contracting and client relationship/development knowledge to drive contracting opportunities, reduce cost, increase revenue, improve profit margin and provide ongoing contract performance. The Sr Category Manager will provide the leadership necessary to contribute significantly to top-line growth, customer satisfaction and profitable performance. The Senior Category Manager will join the VP and senior management team in executing strategic and tactical activities that will enable the organization to achieve both short and long-term financial and other objectives. In addition, by way of the candidate's prior training and experience in leading pharmaceutical contracting initiatives, the Sr Category Manager will play a significant role in further developing pipeline of opportunities and growth strategies that will enable pharmaceuticals to be made more accessible for clients, members, and patients. Key elements of this role are: Plan, develop and implement business plans and budgets, including long-range objectives, performance goals and metrics for each category. Collaborate with RCM, VBC, Operations, Legal, Finance, Accounting, Supply Chain and other key stakeholders as needed to champion cross-functional sourcing initiatives. Drive to execute divisional benefits and/or cost savings goals and targets. Assure the appropriate use of corporate capital. Develop strategies to provide Duly Health and Care with best value deals and programs based on price, service quality, risk mitigation, compliance, resilience, business continuity, and secure the best contract terms for the company. Negotiate contracts to establish preferred suppliers with preferential rates, and drive savings in these areas. Understand category specific principles and value of analytics. Apply complex analytics to enable optimized cost savings and ensure an adequate supply chain. Assure proper analysis and application of internal and external industry specific research information, to determine Company direction in designated categories, reasons for pricing increases/decreases, and develop cost increase and risk mitigation strategies.
Essential Functions & Accountabilities:
Supplier Relationship Lead for key identified vendors: Build and develop relationships with key vendors, understanding their organizations and supply chains to ensure continuity of supply at best value to Duly Health and Care. Drive cost reduction and encourage innovation within the managed categories. Act as the point of contact for all commercial matters between Duly Health and Care and supplier and provide support to all other Duly Health and Care colleagues dealing with suppliers. Negotiate commercial agreements in line with business strategy, working with site and legal teams. Seek opportunities to leverage spending, including the development of long-term supply agreements as appropriate. Monitor vendor performance and hold regular Business Performance Reviews. Lead improvement actions as appropriate. Monitor supplier financial health and recommend appropriate actions to mitigate risk to Duly Health and Care. Communicate expectations and future requirements, monitor performance and co-ordinate issue resolution and improvement.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Ability to engage and influence at Director Level and above, both within Duly Health and Care and supplier organizations. Strong and confident personality, ability to act as the procurement lead across the business and supply base and work independently. Demonstrated ability to develop strategic supplier relationships. Understanding of commercial law, and ability to develop and construct a range of supplier contracts. Excellent communication skills both written and verbal, competent in the use of Excel, Word and PowerPoint. Operating within a fast-paced results orientated mindset. Well organized, methodical and detail conscious, with a high level of personal integrity & professionalism.
EDUCATION
Bachelor's degree and at least 7 years of strategic sourcing experience MBA, or other advanced degree preferred. CPSM certification preferred.
EXPERIENCE
Minimum of 7 years' experience in strategic pharmacy sourcing in healthcare field required. 3+ years of experience leading change management preferred. Previous/current experience in negotiating with a sound knowledge of negotiation techniques and practices. Previous experience leading contracts with a value in excess of $10M
