This role is responsible for leading procurement operations, developing strategic sourcing initiatives, and building strong supplier partnerships to support a high-performing supply chain environment. The ideal candidate will bring strong negotiation skills, supplier management experience, and a strategic mindset focused on cost optimization, operational efficiency, and continuous improvement. Position Overview As a Purchasing Manager, you will oversee procurement activities, source and evaluate suppliers, manage vendor relationships, and collaborate cross-functionally to ensure a seamless supply chain. You will play a critical role in supporting operational goals while driving cost savings and procurement best practices. Objectives of This Role Develop and implement procurement strategies and policies focused on cost optimization and supply chain efficiency. Identify, evaluate, and select suppliers based on quality, reliability, pricing, service, and ethical sourcing standards. Negotiate contracts, pricing, and payment terms to secure favorable agreements. Partner with internal stakeholders to align procurement activities with business objectives. Conduct market research and monitor industry trends, supplier capabilities, and pricing fluctuations. Build and maintain strong supplier relationships through communication, performance evaluation, and issue resolution. Monitor inventory levels and demand patterns to support efficient inventory management and avoid shortages or excess stock. Support continuous improvement initiatives within procurement and sourcing operations. Key Responsibilities Source and negotiate with suppliers while evaluating capabilities and overall fit for business needs. Manage supplier relationships, including ongoing communication, performance reviews, and problem resolution. Collaborate with operations, production, quality, and finance teams to support procurement planning. Analyze inventory levels, forecasts, and consumption trends to optimize inventory and reduce carrying costs. Identify and implement cost-saving opportunities and process improvements. Prepare and present procurement reports, KPIs, and cost-saving metrics to leadership. Develop and maintain procurement performance metrics and sourcing effectiveness reports. Support sustainable and socially responsible sourcing practices. Ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and company procurement policies. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field. Minimum of 5 years of purchasing experience, preferably in a management role within manufacturing, automotive, or steel industries. Strong understanding of procurement principles, sourcing strategies, and supply chain best practices. Proven negotiation, budgeting, and cost optimization skills. Experience with vendor management and inventory management systems. Excellent analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills. Ability to collaborate effectively across departments. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, competitive manufacturing environment. Preferred Experience Experience within the steel, automotive, or industrial manufacturing industries.
