The Merrow Group is seeking a Strategic Sourcing & Supplier Development Manager to strengthen our overall supplier network, sourcing capabilities and commercial position across a diverse portfolio of products and businesses. This is a strategic sourcing and supplier-development role , not simply a transactional purchasing position. You will be responsible for developing supplier relationships, improving commercial terms, identifying new and alternate sources, strengthening product availability, evaluating sourcing risk and identifying supplier-driven opportunities for growth. We are looking for someone who can combine commercial judgment, supplier negotiation, sourcing strategy and disciplined execution to create measurable improvements in cost, availability, product access and competitive position. What You'll Do Develop and execute sourcing and supplier-development strategies across multiple & key product categories. Segment and prioritize suppliers based on commercial importance, opportunity, supply risk and growth potential. Build stronger strategic relationships with key suppliers. Negotiate pricing, discount structures, payment terms, freight programs and other commercial arrangements. Identify and qualify new suppliers and alternate sources. Reduce dependency on single-source or commercially weak supply relationships. Improve product availability while maintaining disciplined inventory and working-capital management. Evaluate supplier performance across cost, availability, reliability, service, product access and commercial support. Develop supplier scorecards, relationship plans and measurable improvement initiatives. Identify new products, categories and sourcing opportunities that can support revenue and margin growth. Work closely with Sales and other customer-facing teams to understand customer demand, lost business, competitive products and unmet product needs. Translate market and customer signals into sourcing, supplier and product actions. Monitor supply constraints, shortages, backorders, lead times and other material supplier issues. Develop corrective plans for recurring supplier or sourcing problems. Maintain disciplined documentation of supplier negotiations, commitments, opportunities and strategic decisions. Work with Finance and Operations to evaluate landed cost, inventory, cash requirements and supplier risk. Present sourcing opportunities and major supplier decisions to leadership with clear commercial and financial rationale. What We're Looking For Experience in strategic sourcing, supplier development, procurement, purchasing or supply management within a B2B environment Demonstrated experience negotiating meaningful supplier agreements and commercial terms Strong commercial judgment around pricing, margins, discounts, payment terms, freight and landed cost Proven ability to develop suppliers rather than simply administer transactions Experience identifying, qualifying and developing new or alternate supply sources Ability to evaluate supplier relationships strategically, including economics, availability, risk, product access and competitive position Strong understanding of inventory, availability and working-capital tradeoffs Ability to analyze sourcing opportunities and build a clear business case Strong negotiation and relationship-management skills Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities Experience working with ERP, purchasing or supply-chain systems Comfortable working with supplier scorecards, metrics and performance reviews Strong organizational discipline and follow-through Ability to work independently while collaborating across Sales, Finance, Operations, Product and leadership teams Experience in industrial distribution, manufacturing, replacement parts, tools, consumables, technical products or other multi-SKU distribution environments is especially valuable. First 90 Days During your first 90 days, you will work with leadership and key internal teams to: Learn the company's supplier and product portfolio. Segment and prioritize strategic supplier relationships. Review major supplier economics, commercial terms and sourcing arrangements. Identify the highest-value supplier negotiation and development opportunities. Evaluate significant sourcing dependencies and supply risks. Begin developing qualified alternate-source opportunities. Establish an initial pipeline of new suppliers, products and sourcing opportunities. Review supplier performance and identify opportunities to improve availability, economics or service. Develop structured supplier strategies and action plans for priority relationships. Build strong working relationships across Sales, Finance, Operations and other internal teams. Compensation Base salary commensurate with experience. Final compensation will be based on experience, demonstrated sourcing and negotiation capabilities and overall fit for the position. Performance-based incentive compensation may also be included based on individual and company results. Location & Travel The position is based with the Merrow Group . Location flexibility may be considered based on experience, business requirements and supplier coverage. Pay:
