Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY
Supervises, coordinates and maintains all activities in the procurement of goods and services such as materials, equipment, tools, parts and supplies; must interface with internal and external customers, i.e., other departments and external vendors; research pricing and secures best possible price for the Company. Manages MRP function to ensure adequate inventory to meet production commitments and is also responsible for the accuracy of material inventories.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS 1.
Reviews departmental purchasing requisitions and coordinates need with the Company's delivery schedule request; adheres to product specifications in procurement activities; coordinates on-time delivery schedules; oversees the receiving and distribution of non-production items; 2. Confers with vendors to obtain product or service information such as price, availability and delivery schedule; may expedite the purchase of goods/equipment to internal user department; establishes procedures to monitor quality of received materials; estimates values according to knowledge of market price; may determine method of procurement such as direct purchase or bid; 3. Prepares purchase orders or bid requests and reviews bid proposals; negotiates prices or purchase orders within budgetary limitations and scope of authority; maintains procurement records such as items or services purchased, costs, delivery, product quality or performance and inventories; 4. Discusses defective or unacceptable goods or services with inspection or quality control personnel, users, vendors, and others to determine source of trouble and initiates corrective action; 5. Responsible for the purchasing of designated government contracts goods as assigned; 6. Responsible for maintaining item cards in BC with accurate information, including lead times to ensure MRP works properly; 7. Works with internal stakeholders to ensure BOM's are maintained and accurate; 8. Responsible for promoting inventory accuracy though cycle counts and spot checks; 9. Responsible for Output and Consumption transactions for designated operations; 10. Must be able to adhere to and follow all safety procedures; must use appropriate PPE as required; 11. Performs other job related duties as assigned.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelors degree or equivalent combination of education/experience in a Finance related field; purchasing and/or inventory experience in a manufacturing environment is a plus; must possess proficiency with MS computer applications; must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
