The Head Start/EHS Substitute is a program-specific position. This is a direct service on-call position within the Chugachmiut Division of Administration. Under the supervision of the Center Supervisor or Site Supervisor, the Head Start/EHS Substitute assists the Head Start/EHS staff in providing quality education in the classroom following Chugachmiut Birth to Five Head Start Program guidelines and other applicable federal and state regulations.

Major Responsibilities:

Implements and supports all applicable Federal and State regulations to include Chugachmiut Policies and Procedures, Head Start Program Performance Standards, Chugachmiut Birth to Five Head Start Program Operations Manual, and Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) guidelines. Supports a safe, healthy, nurturing environment for children including using the principles of Active Supervision at all times. Maintains confidentiality as it relates to information about children, families, and other staff members. Ensures safety and sanitation guidelines are followed. Supports partnerships with parents that are respectful, culturally sensitive, and non-judgmental. Works as part of a team to meet the needs of the Head Start/Early Head Start Program. Responsible for the completion of any required paperwork. Assists other staff as requested by the supervisor and as work schedule permits. Attends staff meetings and trainings as applicable. Education Requirements:

Eighteen years of age or older. Must pass state and federal background checks, including fingerprints. Must attend 15 hours of professional development training annually Must obtain the State of Alaska Food Workers Card before serving meals, and update as required. Current CPR and First Aid training preferred but must be willing to obtain upon hire. Must have current basic physical and TB screening.

Hours of Work:

The hours of work are Monday to Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.. Chugachmiut maintains a drug/alcohol-free and non-smoking work environment.
