The Opportunity:
As the Program Coordinator, you will provide overall leadership and management for the Master Gardener program in Benton and Franklin counties. Your primary goal will be to empower volunteers to teach the public and answer questions on home gardening. You will recruit, train, lead, coordinate, and utilize over 100 Washington State University (WSU)-trained volunteers to reach the growing population in Benton and Franklin counties through more than 25 community locations and special events. In this role, you will establish a network of empowered and effectively led teams to execute the program, and work collaboratively with the volunteers, office staff, and county director to ensure healthy and well-funded operations that align with WSU policies. You will also prepare briefings and written reports for the University, Foundation, elected officials, and other funders on program outcomes and impacts.Additional Information:
This is a full-time (100% FTE), temporary position. This position is overtime eligible.Temporary End Date:
This is a temporary position expected to end one year after date of hire. Renewal is dependent on the need for extension and/or if additional funding is secured to extend employment. Funding has been renewed successfully for several years and we expect funding to continue to be renewed.Monthly Salary:
$3,900.88 - $5,613.47 | Commensurate with experience and qualifications In accordance withRCW 49.58.110

A Bachelor's degree in a relevant extension program discipline and two (2) years of related program experience. Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis. Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook; demonstrated work experience using these programs. Experience recruiting and managing volunteers. Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as in a team setting. The office is based on a matrix organization necessitating cooperation from different agencies, volunteers, and faculty across multiple lines of supervision. Experience working/collaborating with multiple public agencies, Non-Governmental Organization, and individuals in partnerships. Knowledge of, and/or experience with, program assessment and evaluation. Must have, or be able to obtain by time of hire, a valid driver's license and meet requirements in accordance with SPPM 7.10 and departmental driving standards and ability to travel within targeted counties. Ability to work a flexible, yet structured schedule with occasional night and weekend shifts to meet the needs of program partners and grant requirements.Preferred Qualifications:
Experience developing and delivering curriculum. Experience developing and demonstrating effective teaching methods for volunteers. Demonstrated experience in either education or public relations or marketing. Demonstrated experience in organization and management skills. Demonstrated ability to communicate and interact effectively, with persons of varying levels of responsibility and experience, both orally and in writing. Demonstrated knowledge of Workday. Knowledge of WSU University Policies and Procedures in the areas of personnel, finance, and administration. Experience in higher education, local or state agency, or equivalent.
