The candidate who fills this position will be joining at an exciting and pivotal time as we find innovative ways to engage and support our membership in outdoor experiences delivering exceptional experiences to our members and to fulfill the Girl Scout mission. The Outdoor Program Supervisor is a full-time employee and reports to the Outdoor Program Manager, Day Camps. The candidate who fills this position will supervise the Mariposa Day Camp program and work to provide year-round program experiences for our girl members and their families. They will oversee and support the day camp staff, counselors, and girls during the camp season. Organize and implement program activities, uphold all policy, procedures, and safety standards. They will work with peers to develop progressive and intentional outdoor programming to bring exceptional experiences to our members and to fulfill the Girl Scout mission. The ideal candidate will have a passion for the outdoors and a commitment to staying on top of the most current practices in this growing field. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Designs, develops, and implements outdoor program curriculum for summer day camp and year-around program experiences at one or more council program centers. Oversees the hiring, training, and supervision of site-specific seasonal staff engaged in the delivery of day camp and outdoor program experiences. Provides coaching to seasonal staff to enhance skills and achieve strong and purposeful relationships with constituents. Procures all resources, supplies, and equipment for timely and effective execution of program experiences. Formulate outdoor programs, training calendars, and schedules and provide appropriate information to be included in the council's communication materials (newsletters, website, etc.) in an accurate and timely manner. Collaborates with staff and volunteers to expand access of girls and families to the outdoors and develop and deliver relevant in-person and virtual Girl Scout Leadership experiences throughout the year. Develops outcome evaluations for all day camp and outdoor program experiences and effectively tracks and reports impact to the Outdoor Program Manager. Develops program costing tools for the annual operation budget, including revenue and expense projections. Executes and monitors budgets ensuring cost effective delivery of programs. Ensures that experiences and programs are high quality, cost effective, and operated in a manner that meets Council, Girl Scouts of the USA, and when appropriate, American Camp Association and local health and safety standards. Other duties as assigned Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Must be at least 25 years old or older. Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience. Prior experience in youth programming, curriculum development, event planning, or related field (experience in environmental and/or outdoor education desirable). Demonstrated success in working with youth and volunteers. Demonstrated ability to multi-task, prioritize deadlines, work independently, take initiative, and maintain confidentiality in a fast paced and challenging work environment. High accountability and ability to manage multiple priorities. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including communicating complex information with clarity to diverse audiences. Demonstrated strong presentation skills and great networking skills. Strong human relationship skills. Ability to motivate people in small and large groups. Creative problem-solver. Experience in the development and administration of work plans, budgets, and program evaluation desired. A demonstrated commitment to service excellence and customer satisfaction. Technical computer skills Microsoft Office Suite and customer relationship management systems, preferably Salesforce. Willingness to work a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends. Valid California driver's license, the vehicle in working condition, proof of insurance, and the ability to fulfill travel requirements across a large geographical area. GSGLA Employee Requirements Comply with state-mandated reporter training Attend GSGLA signature events and/or other activities as assigned Must successfully complete a Live Scan and background check Mariposa Day Camp Mariposa is a cozy, park-like property in the foothills of Altadena in the San Gabriel Valley. It includes a large grassy space, a wooded area with water misters, and a campfire ring with an adjacent amphitheater. The camp operates with daily exposure to various weather conditions and animals such as bugs, raccoons, and other wilderness animals common to the area.
