BLAST empowers at-promise students to build a positive vision for their future, supporting academic success, personal growth, and post-secondary readiness. The Program Coordinator works closely with the Mentorship Lead and Operations Manager to support and strengthen Mentoring Program efforts, ensuring programs meet their objectives while providing essential support to community partners including school partners, students, and mentors.

Key Responsibilities:

Collaborate with Mentorship Lead and Team to implement program objectives and ensure high-quality services. Maintain mentorship records on internal data platform (i.e. Laserfiche) including college mentors, LBUSD students, caregiver information Plan and co-facilitate workshops, and events, including guest speakers, career fairs, field trips, and other collaborative community initiatives. Work alongside student success coaches to help students create personalized plans and achieve milestones. Develop and maintain strong relationships with community partners including school partners, students, and mentors. Review and funnel upward to Mentorship Lead mentor applications, ensuring all required documentation is complete (Background, TB testing, Training sessions, etc.) Support Mentorship lead and co•facilitate mentor training sessions to ensure mentors are well•equipped for their roles. Maintain internal system for timely mentor placements, verifying logistics, updating schedules, and notifying mentors and site partners. Track program services, mentor hours, and activities to compile evaluation reports and ensure high-quality service delivery. Propose updates to training manuals, program guides, and promotional materials to support the programs. Have a strong awareness on resources available for caregivers and be able to effectively communicate with them. Stay informed on the latest research and trends in mentoring and career readiness to incorporate effective and innovative approaches. Perform other duties (within role) as assigned.

Qualifications:

College education or equivalent experience that demonstrates the ability to meet the responsibilities of the role (Bachelor's degree preferred, but relevant experience may substitute). Experience in program coordination, education management, or mentorship management. Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with diverse community partners. Abilities and Personal Characteristics:

Bilingual in English and Spanish (preferred)•Effective oral and written communication skills, and public speaking skills. Excellent interpersonal and relationship building skills. Personal qualities that include integrity, commitment to Long Beach BLAST's mission, respect for diversity, and the ability to inspire and motivate. Strong computer skills•Experience with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Canva, Zoom and Google Suite applications. Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and manage volunteers. Availability to learn new tools, i.e. our data collection platform, 'Laserfiche', for ongoing tracking support.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Work Schedule:

Full•Time Monday-Friday (9:00am-4:00pm) Paid Time Off•Vacation & Sick Pay Paid holidays include New Year's Day, Martin Luther King Day, Presidents Day, Memorial Day, Juneteenth Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving and Winter Break.

Status:

Full-Time, non-exempt

Compensation:

$23.00 / hour Environmental Conditions Classroom and office environment; exposure to computer screens, noise and electrical energy; extensive contact with staff, faculty, partners, and students, as well as donors and potential donors. Physical Conditions Essential functions require maintaining physical condition necessary for sitting, standing, and walking for extended periods of time.
