POSITION SUMMARY
The Department Generalist serves as a flexible, cross-trained team member who provides program and staffing coverage across the department's key roles. This includes temporary coverage of roles such as Family Advocate, Parent Educator, Child Educator, Outreach Specialist, Office Supervisor, Promotora, and Two-Gen Navigator. The Generalist is deployed during staff leave, vacancies, and/or transitional staffing periods and is expected to quickly integrate into program workflows, deliver high-quality services, and maintain operational continuity.
WORK SCHEDULE
This position generally follows a Monday through Friday schedule from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. The role also includes two evening shifts per week (until 8:00 PM) and 4 hours of work on Saturdays, on a rotating basis. For example, an employee may work two weeknights one week and a Saturday shift the following week. While the schedule may vary week to week, the total hours will generally not exceed 40 hours per week. Occasional overtime may be required based on program needs.

Perform assigned duties with a positive attitude and in the spirit of teamwork, collaboration and cooperation. Communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Perform job duties in a safe manner to ensure a safe working environment for oneself and others. Participate in and/or supports agency fund development activities and events. QUALIFICATIONS
: Bachelor's degree in social work, early childhood education, public health, or related field preferred. 3+ years of experience in one or more of the following areas: case management, parent education, early childhood services, outreach, or nonprofit operations. Bilingual
  • English/Spanish required.
Ability to fluently speak, read and write in Spanish and English. Experience in community outreach, case management, and/or program coordination. Experience and ability to work effectively with a wide variety of organizations and with people of all ages, socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds. Experience with organizing outreach activities, workshops, and public events. Knowledge of public health, social services, nonprofit operations and local resources. Familiarity with managing office operations, scheduling, and coordinating teams. Strong verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills to foster teamwork and resolve conflicts. Organizational and time-management abilities to handle multiple tasks efficiently. Proficiency in office software (Microsoft 365: Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams). Problem-solving and decision-making skills to improve office workflows. Ability to travel for coverage between sites, community engagement, and events. Leadership skills to guide and support staff while maintaining a positive work environment. Pass agency paid criminal justice screening including fingerprints. Pass agency paid TB (Tuberculosis) screening. Pass agency paid health screening and/or drug testing, if required. Valid California driver's license and Proof of auto insurance coverage. Pass agency paid MVR clearance with no more than 2 points

DUTIES :
Provide direct service coverage across program roles, including facilitating groups, conducting outreach, case management, and participant coaching. Maintain fidelity to program curriculum and requirements during staff absences. Support office operations, client engagement, and data entry when serving in Office Lead capacity. Complete assessments, referrals, and follow-ups using established tools (e.g., ASQs, PFS, Empowerment Plans). Participate in or lead group sessions and workshops for parents, children, and/or community members. Maintain accurate documentation and case notes in agency databases. Collaborate with Program and Operations Managers to identify coverage needs and adjust site schedules. Provide informal leadership and coaching to team members during temporary assignments. Serve as an initial point of contact for role-specific questions while covering that position. Help onboard or shadow new staff where appropriate during transition periods. Travel between FRC sites as needed; maintain flexibility to cover evening and occasional weekend shifts. Support a positive, professional site culture and represent the organization with integrity at all locations. Communicate performance concerns or trends to the Program Manager. Participate in monthly Lead check-ins with Program Manager. Participate in required program training and certification, as needed. Perform additional tasks as assigned to support teamwork and operational success.
