COORDINATORS YMCA
Expanded Learning Program Great afterschool programs don't happen by accident. They happen because someone takes ownership. The YMCA Expanded Learning Program is looking for Site Coordinators who are ready to lead a school-based program, develop a strong team, build meaningful partnerships, and create an environment where students want to be every day. As a Site Coordinator, you won't simply oversee the daily schedule. You'll be responsible for bringing the program to life. You'll set expectations for your team, coach team members toward growth, solve problems, strengthen program quality, and build relationships with approximately 100 students, families, school leaders, and community partners. YMCA THIS IS A YEAR-ROUND LEADERSHIP POSITION
Our Site Coordinators work a year-round schedule that follows a combination of the YMCA and school district calendars. While most of the year is centered around the school-year afterschool program, Site Coordinators also work select days and weeks when school is not in session. This typically includes district professional development days, approximately one week during winter break, one week during spring break, and approximately 6-7 weeks of summer programming.

Every day, we elevate youth voice through enrichment experiences that build leadership, strengthen healthy habits, encourage learning, and help young people discover new interests. Our programs serve elementary and middle school students throughout West Contra Costa and Oakland, with enrichment centered around three core areas: Academic Achievement Physical Play Creative Curiosity We believe students deserve more than a place to go after school. WHAT YOU'LL LEAD
As a Site Coordinator, you are the leader of your school site. You'll take ownership of your program's people, culture, quality, relationships, and day-to-day operations. You'll receive support and coaching from your Program Managers, but you'll be expected to take initiative, make sound decisions, and lead your team toward shared goals. Lead Your Team Set clear expectations and create a positive, accountable team culture Coach, supervise, and develop your team members Provide regular feedback and help team members strengthen their skills Train and support new team members Delegate responsibilities and follow through on expectations Address performance concerns professionally and proactively Model the professionalism, communication, and leadership you expect from your team Lead the Student Experience Ensure students experience a safe, welcoming, engaging, and well-organized program every day Guide your team in delivering high-quality enrichment activities Observe program activities and provide coaching to improve facilitation and student engagement Use student voice and feedback to continuously strengthen the program Create an environment where students build relationships, explore interests, stay active, and develop leadership skills Respond effectively to student behavior and support your team in creating positive group environments Lead the Program Manage the daily operation of your assigned school site Establish goals and continuously evaluate progress toward them Maintain accurate enrollment, attendance, staffing, and program records Use data and observations to identify opportunities for improvement Manage site resources and program budgets responsibly Ensure required reports, documentation, and administrative responsibilities are completed accurately and on time Maintain compliance with YMCA, school district, safety, and program requirements Anticipate challenges, solve problems, and communicate when additional support is needed Lead the Partnerships Serve as the primary YMCA program contact at your assigned school Build strong working relationships with school administrators, teachers, families, and community partners Communicate professionally and consistently with families Collaborate with school partners to respond to student and program needs Represent the YMCA Expanded Learning Program with professionalism Build trust by following through on commitments and communicating proactively
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
At least 2 years of experience in youth development, education, expanded learning, recreation, childcare, or related programming At least 1 year of experience leading or supervising staff, volunteers, and/or programs Must be at least 18 years old 48 completed college units or a passing score on the Instructional Aide Exam Need to take the exam? We can support you through the process. Ability to successfully clear required DOJ/FBI background checks CPR, First Aid, and AED certification within 30 days of hire Training is provided at no cost to you. Reliable transportation and ability to consistently travel to program sites, trainings, and meetings Comfortable using technology and learning the systems required for the position, including Google Workspace, Airtable, Zoom, and other program management platforms
