Youth Center Staff (Temporary) Just Us 4 Youth Pomona, CA Job Details Part-time $18 an hour 5 hours ago Qualifications CPR Certification Teamwork Experience working with high schoolers Non-CDL Class C Experience working with middle schoolers Working with students Child supervision Human Services Associate's degree Working with youth Full Job Description Youth Center Staff (Temporary) Position Summary The Youth Center Staff position is part of RESQ (Reconnect & Engage Students Quickly), a youth support program of Just Us 4 Youth that works with at-promise middle and high school students to strengthen school engagement, attendance, and overall student success. Youth Center Staff help create a safe, welcoming, and supportive environment where students can participate in mentorship, enrichment, recreational, educational, and other youth-development opportunities. Staff work collaboratively with Campus Mentors, supervisors, and the RESQ team to support Youth Center activities and program events. Responsibilities include engaging and supervising youth, assisting with workshops and programs, supporting special events and field trips, encouraging student participation, and helping maintain a positive and structured environment. Youth Center Staff also provide program and administrative support, including attendance and participation tracking, data entry, uploading required case notes and program documentation, and maintaining the confidentiality of student and family information. This role is ideal for someone who is energetic, reliable, organized, and passionate about working with young people. Youth Center Staff serve as positive role models and contribute to a team that helps students build confidence, life skills, leadership, healthy relationships, and stronger connections to their school and community. Key ResponsibilitiesYouth Engagement & Supervision Provide a safe, welcoming, and supportive environment for youth participating in center-based activities and programs. Build positive, professional relationships with youth through consistent engagement, supervision, and mentorship. Encourage youth participation in educational, recreational, creative, leadership, and enrichment activities. Monitor youth behavior and participation, model appropriate boundaries, reinforce program expectations, and communicate concerns to the appropriate supervisor. Serve as a positive role model and help maintain an inclusive environment where youth feel respected and supported. Program & Activity Facilitation Support structured activities, workshops, recreation, and other youth-development programming. Assist with planning and implementing activities based on student interests and program goals, including sports, arts and crafts, games, creative projects, educational activities, and leadership activities. Event Planning & Execution Assist with planning, preparation, and execution of RESQ and Just Us 4 Youth events. Support event logistics, including setup, registration/check-in, activity stations, student supervision, food service, cleanup, and breakdown. Assist with organizing supplies, materials, equipment, and other event needs. Youth Center Operations Help maintain a clean, organized, safe, and welcoming Youth Center environment. Assist with opening and closing procedures as assigned. Organize and maintain program materials, supplies, games, equipment, and activity areas. Report facility, equipment, safety, or supply concerns to the appropriate supervisor. Student Outreach & Program Participation Support outreach efforts that encourage student participation in RESQ and Just Us 4 Youth programming. Assist with communicating program information, schedules, activities, and events to students and families as directed. Encourage students to attend regularly and remain engaged in available programming. Attendance, Documentation & Program Support Maintain accurate and timely attendance and participation records in accordance with program procedures. Assist with student sign-in/sign-out and other required program documentation. Provide timely information to supervisors regarding student participation, concerns, incidents, or notable interactions. Assist with surveys, feedback collection, program tracking, and other documentation as assigned. Record required information in the organization's digital data management system in accordance with program and compliance standards. Maintain confidentiality and protect student, family, staff, and organizational information. Collaboration & Communication Collaborate with Campus Mentors, Youth Center Staff, supervisors, and organizational leadership to support student engagement and program success. Attend required staff meetings, trainings, orientations, and program planning meetings. Communicate professionally with students, families, school personnel, community partners, and colleagues. Maintain appropriate professional boundaries with students and families and represent Just Us 4 Youth professionally.
Schedule Requirements Position Type:
Temporary, Part-time, Grant-funded Hours:
Approximately 20 hours per week
Anticipated Employment Period:
Through November 30, 2026 Continuation beyond November 30, 2026 may be considered based on continued funding, program needs, and satisfactory performance.
Typical Schedule:
Monday-Friday, primarily within the 8:00 AM-4:30 PM timeframe. Schedule may vary based on program needs, school-site activities, Youth Center programming, events, workshops, field trips, and student engagement needs. Occasional evening and weekend hours may be required for special events, workshops, community activities, or other program needs. Minimum Qualifications Associate's degree (A.A. or A.S.) in Psychology, Social Work, Education, Human Services, Youth Development, or a related discipline is highly preferred; equivalent relevant youth-development experience may be considered in lieu of the degree. Experience working with youth, students, or community-based programs. Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to establish positive relationships with middle and high school-aged youth. Ability to work effectively as part of a team, follow direction, and take initiative. Current, clear TB (tuberculosis) test. Legally authorized to work in the United States. CPR and First Aid certification, or ability to obtain certification within a designated timeframe. Valid Class C driver's license with proof of current auto insurance. Ability to successfully complete a background check and Live Scan clearance. Bilingual English/Spanish or other relevant language skills are preferred but not required. Physical & Work Environment Requirements This position requires the ability to work in an active youth-programming environment and may include: Standing and walking for extended periods. Moving program materials, supplies, tables, chairs, and recreational equipment. Participating in or supervising physical and recreational activities. Working indoors and outdoors. Traveling to schools, field trips, community events, and other program locations as assigned. Reasonable accommodations may be provided in accordance with applicable law.
