We are seeking a Program Specialist to join the Special Education department who is highly motivated and energized with strong leadership and interpersonal skills. Under the direction of the Directors within the Special Education Department, the Program Specialist's job will be to ensure the educational success of programs for students with special needs. The Program Specialist will work with school staff, parents, students, and service providers to provide support to meet the student's academic, social and emotional needs by providing leadership, consultation, and training to various stakeholders. Additionally, the Program Specialist will plan programs, coordinate curricular resources and evaluate effectiveness of programs for individuals with exceptional needs. Qualifications Knowledge of:
  • Theoretical and applied models of special education service delivery
  • Special education-related laws and policies
  • School services available for all types of students with special needs
  • Strategies for involving families and individuals with special needs planning
  • Professional development
  • IEP procedures and development
Education/Experience:
Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities could qualify someone for this position. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:
Education:
Equivalent to a Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited college or university with major In education, education administration, public administration or a related field that would be applicable to assigned department(s).
Experience:
Three years of increasingly responsible experience In related field, preferably in a public education setting. Valid California Teaching Credential in related subject area.
Required Documents:
Credential Copy (valid teaching credential issued by the State of California, if applicable) Letter of Introduction Letter(s) of Recommendation (Three Recent Letters of Recommendation) Resume Requirements /
