San Leandro, CA Duties Support the planning and delivery of job readiness, life skills, and entrepreneurship workshops Help prepare workshop materials (slides, handouts, setup) Attend and co-facilitate youth workshops alongside supervisory staff Practice leading ice-breakers, activities, or reflections with peers Participate in workshop debrief sessions to help assess participant needs, understand group dynamics, and continuously improve workshop services Learn and help maintain curriculum folders and drive organization Assist with community outreach, social media promotion, and event support Represent CHALK and BACR with professionalism and care Attend training sessions, check-ins, and team meetings Participate in leadership development and skill-building opportunities Other duties as assignedMinimum Qualifications:
Must be 18+ Ability to work Part- time (Mon-Fri, 3p-7p and periodic Saturdays once a quarter) Successful completion of Live Scan/fingerprinting (upon hire) Interest in youth development and community empowerment Experience participating in BACR programs and/or external leadership opportunities Willingness to learn and take initiative Ability to collaborate on a team and communicate clearly Strong sense of responsibility and time management Basic familiarity with Google Suite (or willingness to learn) Afternoons & Evening and 1 day during the weekend availability Reliable and clearSchedule Desired Qualifications:
High level of personal accountability for the quality and impact of work Ability to provide a consistent, professional, and positive adult relationship to the participants we serve Ability to assess crisis situations and initiate action independently and without direction Familiarity working with undocumented transitional aged youth and adults in the Bay Area Familiar with the criminal justice system and its impact on marginalized communities Ability to empathize with colleagues and individuals from a racial, ethnic, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, socioeconomic, academic and cultural diversity backgrounds Lead Agency for Career and Education Services at REACH Ashland Youth Center The REACH Ashland Youth Center, operational since 2013, serves participants ages 1124 that live in Alameda County with a focus on the Ashland and unincorporated area, a community that is known for poverty, crime and chronic health conditions. REACH is a program of the Center for Health Schools and Communities (CHCS), a division of the Alameda County Health Care Services Agency. Health and wellness, social justice, and youth leadership are woven into all aspects of REACH's programs and services. The Workshop Team provides workshops that are accessible to REACH youth several times throughout the year in cohorts of up to 10-12 youth at a time. The Facilitators cover a range of training on topics that include Professional Development as well as Life Skills and producing Community Engagement Event Planning. This role will also be expected to facilitate in the Lead Facilitators absence and attend field trips and events off site as needed. BACR in collaboration with the REACH Center oversees all aspects of our youth career exploration and training program based on specific contracts assigned to them, located at the REACH Ashland Youth Center in coordination with career pathway partners in Tech, Art and Health. Working with BACR staff, REACH staff, Career Pathway Partners and other partners, the Facilitation team will oversee daily workshops, assist in supervising youth interns and support with enrollment, intake and retention and interviews for participants wishing to attend workshops. REACH Ashland Youth Center As mentioned above the REACH Ashland Youth Center is an Alameda County funded site that has been designed from the ground up by and for youth. The role of BACR on site is career and post secondary education services. The Program Coordinator manages a caseload of participants that are REACH members and supports with connecting to employment opportunities and enrolling in post secondary education. The Career coach works in partnership with the other community service providers on site to ensure wraparound services are being met and the participants are receiving the highest quality of supportive services available. The role of the Program Manager is to support the Career Coach with connecting them to resources, contract compliance and managing the budget in accordance with those contract stipulations. The Program Manager will be responsible for managing the Workshop Facilitator and the REACH Fellow. #hpAbout Us:
