Job Description

Looking for your first job? Love working with kids? Want to build leadership skills, make friends, and be part of a fun team? The YMCA is looking for energetic, responsible, and positive team members ages 15+ to join our Adventure Zone Crew! As a Junior Child Watch Crew Member, you'll help create a safe, welcoming, and fun environment for children while gaining valuable work experience, teamwork skills, and leadership development along the way. What You'll Do Help lead games, activities, and fun experiences for kids Welcome families and create positive member experiences Support YMCA staff with program setup and cleanup Help keep the Adventure Zone organized, safe, and engaging Build friendships and teamwork skills while learning on the job Represent YMCA values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility What We're Looking For Positive attitude and willingness to learn Enjoys working with children and being part of a team Reliable and responsible Comfortable communicating with staff, members, and families Must be at least 15 years old Why Work at the YMCA? POSITION SUMMARY
Under the direction and supervision of the Adventure Zone Captain and designated YMCA leadership staff, the Junior Adventure Zone Crew Member assists with program activities and helps create a welcoming, safe, and engaging environment for children and families in the Adventure Zone. This position supports YMCA staff in delivering quality member experiences through positive interactions, relationship building, and attentive support of program activities. The Junior Adventure Zone Crew Member demonstrates the YMCA core values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility in all interactions. Because this position is designed for youth employees ages 15 and older, all duties are performed under the direct supervision of an adult YMCA staff member.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Assist YMCA staff with age-appropriate activities, games, and participant engagement Help maintain a welcoming, safe, and inclusive environment for all participants and families Support staff in maintaining appropriate participant supervision and program safety standards Maintain positive and respectful interactions with children, parents, members, and staff Assist with organization, setup, and cleanup of program areas and materials Follow YMCA policies, procedures, and staff directions at all times Attend required trainings and staff meetings as assigned Immediately communicate concerns, incidents, or safety issues to supervising staff Support the YMCA mission and demonstrate YMCA values in daily interactions

WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Frequently required to stand, walk, sit, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and move throughout program spaces Must be able to participate actively in recreational and youth activities Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation Specific vision abilities may include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus Noise levels may range from moderate to high during program activities

QUALIFICATIONS
Must be at least 15 years of age Ability to interact positively and appropriately with children, families, members, and staff Ability to follow directions and work cooperatively as part of a team Current First Aid and CPR certification preferred; may be required within 30 days of hire in accordance with YMCA practices Must possess verbal communication skills appropriate for working with children and adults
