Job Description

Title:
Prevention Program Coordinator Salary Range:
$67,000-$72,000
Annually Location:
Summit County, CO The Prevention Program Coordinator oversees and manages prevention and harm reduction initiatives, focusing on outreach, education, and syringe access. Reporting directly to the Director of Public Health and Community Engagement, this role plays a crucial part in promoting safer practices and preventing opioid overdoses and infectious diseases in the Summit County community.
Primary Duties:
1. Program Coordination (30%): Operate the syringe access program, providing overdose education, referrals to medication-assisted treatment, and substance use support. Engage with diverse communities, including LGBTQ+ individuals, people experiencing homelessness, women, and those who use or inject drugs. Collaborate with relevant stakeholders. Handle other assigned responsibilities. 2.Outreach & Education (40%): Develop and execute outreach plans to raise awareness about harm reduction. Participate in tabling events, distributing resources related to harm reduction. Create educational materials (presentations, flyers, videos) on topics such as HIV/HCV/STIs, opioid overdose, naloxone training, and prevention strategies. Organize safe, sober social events to educate participants on harm reduction tools. 3. Testing (20%): Coordinate CLIA-waived rapid testing for HIV, Hepatitis C, Syphilis, Chlamydia, and Gonorrhea. Manage STI testing supplies and equipment. Maintain accurate data records and reporting in accordance with CDPHE's standards for HIV prevention services and MHBHC policies. Timely data reporting. 4. Social Media Strategy (10%): Collaborate with other program coordinators to implement a social media plan marketing MHBHC harm reduction services, harm reduction education, and stigma around injection drug use or substance misuse. Cultivate culturally responsive campaigns across relevant platforms to promote safer sex and drug use education.
Qualifications:
Outgoing Personality:
Comfortable initiating conversations with unfamiliar individuals.
Engagement Skills:
Able to discuss sexual health and drug use topics in challenging settings (e.g., bars, concerts, festivals, hospital).
Innovative Mindset:
Passionate about bringing creative harm reduction programs to unique spaces, taking initiative, and working independently on diverse projects. Commitment to
Learning:
Desires professional growth within the public health and prevention field, including ongoing training and certifications.
Cultural Awareness:
Familiarity with LGBTQ cultural and health disparities, including those living with HIV and those at risk. Understanding of cultural and health disparities among people experiencing homelessness and people who use drugs in rural settings.
Public Speaking:
Comfortable addressing large groups.
Facilitation Experience:
Skilled in leading harm reduction discussions related to sexual health and drug use.
Communication Skills:
Proficient in both verbal communication and computer use, including social media platforms.
Other Requirements:
Travel:
Frequent travel within Summit County and occasional travel to Eagle County and the Denver Metro area, reliable transportation needed.
Work Schedule:
Primarily Monday through Friday during regular business hours, with occasional evening and late-night work for events and drop-in hours.
Collaboration:
Willingness to assist other team members in program execution.
Crisis Management:
Demonstrated ability to work constructively with individuals in crisis situations.
Preferred Knowledge:
Experience or familiarity with HIV/HCV and/or drug use.
Inclusivity:
