Transition Academy (ETA) in Willimantic, CT serves students ages 18 through 22 with a variety of learning, behavioral, and social-emotional needs. ETA is committed to the practices found across all of our specialized programs, including explicit instruction; data-based decision-making; team collaboration; and universal, proactive approaches. We are hiring Student Support Specialist I's to assist students and other classroom staff to promote a safe and healthy environment for learning. This position works under the supervision of a Special Education Teacher or other certified staff who assigns tasks and reviews work upon completion.Required Qualifications:
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Education:
High School Diploma or GEDExperience:
At least one year of paid or unpaid volunteer experience working with children in an organized setting.Or:
Combination of education and experience that is a substantial equivalent to the above education and experience.SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
1. For positions in theCDT Program:
Within six (6) months of appointment, must successfully complete Physical Management Techniques (PMT) training and recertification annually. 2. For positions in theAutism Program:
Within six (6) months of appointment, must successfully complete Safety Care training and recertification annually. 3. Depending onProgram:
Complete and maintain certification for First Aid and CPR.
