Wilmington, Delaware, United States Job Description Summary:
To facilitate discussion during weekly Domestic Violence Interventions in psychoeducational groups. These sessions are held in day and evenings in person. Opportunities for training and certification as a facilitator is included.
Responsibilities:
Prepare and present on a relevant topic each week. Facilitate discussion and encourage mutual self-help exchanges of suggestions, experiences and support. Engage participants in leadership roles and encourage continued attendance. Engage in professional interactions with program participants. Manage group discussion/interactions effectively and make appropriate referrals to clinical resources as needed. Track attendance and participation and end of session surveys. Notify Program Director of any special needs or concerns regarding a client and his/her family and work with staff to ensure that the client receives information about any relevant resources. Collaborate with staff to raise awareness about the program. Present curriculum materials in an effective manner.
Requirements:
Possession of or significant progress towards a Bachelor's Degree (Master's Degree preferred) from an accredited college or university in social work, psychology, family therapy, child development or a related field.
  • At least one year's experience running groups. Must be able and willing to work a flexible schedule, and evening hours and attend at any mandatory trainings.
  • Knowledge of issues related to intimate partner violence.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of the principles of human behavior.
  • Strong group facilitation skills
  • Working knowledge of referral sources for clients in need of other community services
  • Ability to function effectively as a member of a team
