Intern - AS2I Summer

Interns will actively contribute to meaningful City initiatives while gaining hands-on experience across multiple departments. Collaborate with City professionals on active projects that directly impact residents and businesses. Assist in researching, brainstorming and presenting innovative solutions to real municipal challenges. Contribute ideas during team meetings and strategy sessions. Job shadow professionals in departments such as Information Technology, Engineering, Human Resources, Executive Administration, Growth Management, Code Enforcement and Public Safety. Attend executive-level "Lunch & Learn" sessions focused on leadership, financial management and career pathways. Conduct research on best practices from other municipalities and emerging trends in STEM and local government. Assist in preparing materials, reports and presentations for new City initiatives. Explore career pathways in STEM and public service through guided mentorship experiences. Assist with community outreach initiatives and content creation. Help tell the story of how local government improves daily life in your community. Must be at least 16 years of age at the start of the internship. Must be enrolled as a High School junior, senior or recently graduated 2026 HS senior. Ability to use web-based applications including Microsoft Office Suite. Must be available to work Monday through Thursday between 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Must provide own transportation to and from the City. Must provide a current high school transcript and letter of recommendation from a teacher or non-relative. Have at least a 2.5 cumulative unweighted GPA. Applicants will be required to complete a Disclosure & Authorization Regarding Background Investigation, a Confidentiality Agreement and the CJIS (Criminal Justice Information Services) Security Clearance process to include national fingerprint-based records check and approval for controlled access to protected information.
