Job Summary:
The Wellness Program Specialist delivers community-based prevention and education services for children, adolescents, and families, with a focus on substance use awareness. Leads presentations, facilitates groups, and partners with schools and community organizations to promote wellness and resources. •This position requires a high-level of comfort and enthusiasm regarding public speaking to a variety of audiences. •
Key Responsibilities:
Providing substance use disorder prevention services, including events/activities, for the community.
Public speaking duties to educate on current prevention trends, up-to-date tools and available resources pertaining to substance use disorder awareness.
Participating in health fairs and community coalitions.
Facilitating educational groups on a variety of relevant substance use disorder topics.
Providing services on all DLC campuses and in at locations such as schools, community organizations and partners.
Working as part of a multi-faceted Wellness Team and in conjunction with other DLC Programs as needed.
Other duties as assigned by the Supervisor of Wellness Programs.
This position involves local county travel.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in behavioral science or a related field = Required
Spanish Bilingual = Strongly Preferred
Ability to work a flexible schedule based on event and Program needs = Required
At least one year of experience working with children/adolescents in a behavioral healthcare setting = Required
Valid, current and clean FL Driver's License for travel = Required
Efficient, empathetic and evocative communication skills = Required
Ability to work with a wide variety of age groups = Required
Comfort with and compassion shown while relating to diverse backgrounds and cultures = Required
Dual professional personalities in being able to both work as a team player AND be self-motivated = Required
Ability to ensure that all activities are managed according to DLC policies and procedures = Required
Microsoft Office 365 skills (Including Teams/Video Conferencing) and Electronic Medical Records experience = Strongly Preferred
Staying compliant on all training and immunizations.
Ability to pass Level II DCF Mental Health Fingerprinting (General Information can be found HERE),
Drug Screen and Local Criminal Check Physical Requirements:
This position requires a mix of physical activities throughout the workday. Duties involve periods of standing, sitting, and walking, often across various areas of the site. The role also includes tasks that may require bending, reaching, and other physical movements. Candidates must be able to occasionally lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds. A reasonable level of physical stamina and mobility is necessary to successfully perform the essential functions of this role.
