Specialist Job Summary:

The purpose of this job is to provide technical and research support for the county-wide 911 system and infrastructure.

Essential Job Functions:

Coordinates with the 911 Database Analyst to ensure 911 database integrity, map updates for CAD and entry of items such as CAD flags and caution notes. Monitors/supports the maintenance of the Charlotte County 911 system, including researching and resolving inaccurate wireless and wireline 911 call data in coordination with telephone service providers. Assists with management of State and Federal 911 grant programs to include grant submission, review, management, and reporting. Assists with developing/implementing public education activities, including social media outreach, school presentations, workshops and related informational materials for 911-oriented programs.

Minimum Requirements:

Requires an Associate's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, G.I.S. or closely related field and one (1) year experience in emergency communication, 911 systems, ArcGIS Pro or closely related work or completion of specialized training in these fields. Experience in emergency communication, 911 systems, ArcGIS Pro or closely related work or completion of specialized training in these fields may substitute on a year for year basis for the required education. Must obtain Florida Public Safety Telecommunicator Certification, NCIC/FCIC Certification and EMF/CPR Certification within six (6) months of hire.

Physical Effort Required:

The work of this class primarily involves sedentary work that includes long periods of sitting, walking, or standing some of the time and involves exerting up to 10 pounds of force on a regular and recurring basis or sustained keyboard operations.

Working Conditions:

This class primarily works in an office setting.
