Job Description

The Active Older Adults Membership Experience Lead will be responsible to create and maintain the senior activity schedule, and encourage members to participate in activities and programs including group exercise classes, social events, seminars, etc. This position will also lead volunteer recruitment and coordination within the Family Center, ensuring the Tampa YMCA is positioned as a go to destination for member of the community to Volunteer. The AOA Membership Experience Lead will also assist with annual marketing strategies to increase general senior membership sales, and SilverSneaker gate swipes, and overall membership retention.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Membership/Active Older Adults/Silver Sneakers Coordinates the schedule for Silver Sneakers classes and activities, manages staff schedule for related programs, and maintains the inventory of related program equipment. Provides a visible presence in the centers and actively interacts with senior members to ensure their needs are met. Actively stewards relationships between seniors within the center by introducing them to other members and inviting them to new Programs, Activities, and Events. Proactively identifies and resolves member issues and concerns. Implements initiatives to encourage consistent participation and track engagement metrics. Plans and executes off-site trips to enhance social connections and overall well-being. Assesses current offerings and introduce new activities to meet member needs. Works with the Center Membership Director to ensure AOA Calendar of Events reflects the community's needs. Coordinates the recruitment, engagement, and evaluation of volunteers in the Center. Collaborates with Family Programming Director to create inter-generation program/service opportunities. Explores offsite collaborative partners to expand service footprint in the community. Supports the Enhance Fitness offerings by ensuring all participants in attendance are registered for the program, get a base-line fitness assessment within 3 classes, attendance is taken each time they hold class, and all intake and final session paperwork is completed and turned into the Community Health Department. Provides support on the wellness floor for all members in learning how to use machines. Promotes personal training for interested members and provides recommendations on trainers. Assists in cleaning of wellness equipment during down times. Conducts outbound phone calls for the purpose of class/program promotion and member wellness checks. Safety and Risk Management Adhere to all Federal, State, and local safety regulations, as well as all YMCA policies and procedures related to the safety, health, and welfare of members, participants, guests, and staff. Ensure that all Tampa YMCA standards, leading practices, and policies are implemented and consistently followed, including those related to emergency procedures, child abuse prevention, and appropriate supervision. Adhere to policies and procedures related to managing high-risk activities and supervising participants and boundaries with participants when applicable. Ensure implementation of and follows all training requirements including risk management and child abuse prevention training in addition to ensuring proper reporting of all incidents/accidents according to risk management procedures. Maintain a safe and healthy environment at all times, including performing daily safety checks of program areas, equipment, and supplies. Maintain proper records, including certifications, meetings and trainings. Maintain an emphasis on safety in all areas of responsibility as they relate to members and staff. Adhere to risk management training requirements including child abuse prevention. Front desk personnel—ensure member or association guest are properly signed in and signed out, ensures only authorized adults are allowed in the facility, etc. Contribute to creating and maintaining a safe, positive, and respectful environment for members, guests, and staff. Promptly report any suspicious or inappropriate behavior, as well as policy violations, following established association procedures.
Education/ Experience Required:
Two or more years of face-to-face member relations or customer service experience in a high-traffic, consumer-driven environment preferred. Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain relationships with members/customers. Demonstrated critical thinking, problem-solving and issue resolution skills with the ability to proactively identify and resolve customer/member issues. Ability to understand, adapt to and interact with diverse people, teams, perspectives and cultures.
Certifications/Trainings Required:
Must obtain within 30 days of employment and then maintain current certifications in CPR/AED and First Aid Maintains other required certifications as stated in the training matrix
WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job includes, but not limited to: The employee needs sufficient strength, agility and mobility to perform essential functions and to supervise program activities in a wide variety of indoor and outdoor locations. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use a computer for extended periods of time and be able to communicate using a computer and authorized work phone/smart device. Ability to instruct and observe participants during program activities. The employee frequently is required to see, observe, and hear all participants, and make sound judgments and decisions. Ability to perform all physical aspects of the position, including, but not limited to, leading class, walking, standing, bending, reaching, and lifting. Ability to sit and reach and must be able to move around the work environment. Hear noises and distress signals in the program environment, including in the classroom and anywhere around the zone of responsibility. Must have flexibility and the ability to adapt to changing circumstances. Ability to lift and move a minimum of 30 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Ability to work in a variety of environments, specifically those subject to extreme humidity/dampness, heat and cold. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to high. This position requires reliable transportation and a willingness to travel, if needed. This position may require availability to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
