Job Description

The Program Manager in the Office of Student Outreach and Support (SOS) plays a central role in sustaining the multifaceted operations of SOS and the Student of Concern Assistance Team (SOCAT), serving as a key point of coordination for the university's Care referral system and non-clinical student support. The primary purpose of this role is to assess and manage students of concern—from mild to critical risk—by identifying areas of need, developing intervention plans, and helping undergraduate and graduate students navigate academic, social, and personal challenges. This includes providing guidance on accessing university resources, connecting students with community services, supporting medical care coordination and hospitalization discharge planning, and assisting with university campus wide support and response when needed. The incumbent must be able to plan, organize, and evaluate SOS campus intervention efforts and programs specific to their designated campus. While the role does not supervise staff, it requires strong leadership in program development, implementation, and evaluation, along with an understanding of relevant federal, state, and university policies to ensure student well-being and enhance the overall university experience.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree and two years of experience in a student affairs position or a Master's degree in Higher Education, or College Student Affairs. Work experience may not be substituted for the Bachelor's degree requirement for this position.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's degree level in Education, Special Education, Psychology, Social Work, or other field appropriate to the program content. Previous knowledge of student information systems (such as Banner) SB 1310: SB 1310: Substitution of Work Experience for Postsecondary Education Requirements. A public employer may include a postsecondary degree as a baseline requirement only as an alternative to the number of years of direct experience required, not to exceed: (a) Two years of direct experience for an associate degree; (b) Four years of direct experience for a bachelor's degree; (c) Six years of direct experience for a master's degree; (d) Seven years of direct experience for a professional degree; or (e) Nine years of direct experience for a doctoral degree Related work experience may not substitute for any required licensure, certification, or registration required for the position of employment as established by the public employer and indicated in the advertised description of the position of employment. This position will require a Level 1 or Level 2 background check.

  • Provide case management and related support services to students.
Manage mild to critical-risk students of concern on issues such as, but not limited to, academic and emotional distress, self-harm, physical health, and family distress. Supports students with social service needs, such as navigation of university systems, referral to community resources, access to medical care, and hospitalization discharge planning. Will provide non-clinical assessment of mental-health concerns, linkage and referral to resources on-and-off campus.
  • Expected to be knowledgeable of multicultural approaches to case management services, and skilled in assessing common presenting concerns of college-age students including anxiety, depression, substance use/misuse/abuse, disordered eating, and interpersonal trauma.

  • campus support providers in tracking and following up on referrals and establishes and maintains regular contact with community resources to ensure quality referrals.
  • Processes current and prior medical withdrawal requests for current and prior term medical withdrawals for cause.
  • Manage, execute, and evaluate SOS program operations; compile and analyze data related to student participation and program evaluation; develop organization work processes which facilitate attainment of established program goals and objectives.
  • Manage and coordinate program activities with other student services functions and instructional programs; provide technical expertise and input concerning student activities; staff events and activities
  • Serve on pertinent University committees
  • Other duties as assigned.
