Job Description

Florida Conservation Program Manager As a core member of Ocean Conservancy's Florida Conservation Team, the Florida Conservation Program Manager will provide critical mission support and added capacity, expanding the organization's ability to work with partners in state and local governments and the conservation community across Florida. The Manager will serve as a key point of contact with local government partners and lead flagship projects such as grassroots marine debris efforts, marine plastics assessments and advocacy, sea level rise and climate change initiatives, water quality interventions, and marine wildlife and habitat protection. The Manager will represent Ocean Conservancy in public appearances, testimony, and outreach activities, reporting to the Senior Director of Florida Conservation, preferably based in St. Petersburg, Florida. Responsibilities include seeking, managing, and expanding community-led initiatives to reduce marine debris and nutrient pollution across Florida (Tampa Bay, Indian River Lagoon, Biscayne Bay, and other regions); leading strategic development of marine debris positions; advancing community-driven water quality interventions; participating in grant applications and budget development; networking with state and local government officials; coordinating environmental NGO peers and partners statewide; providing public testimony on marine conservation issues; and helping develop Ocean Conservancy's policy positions.
Required qualifications:
3-5 years experience in environmental conservation in Florida (or an advanced degree in a related field in lieu of experience); a genuine passion for Florida's marine environment; familiarity with current marine conservation issues in Florida including water quality, nutrient pollution, plastic pollution, marine debris, sea level rise, climate change, and threats to wildlife and habitat; strong communication and public speaking skills; experience with environmental policy analysis and advocacy; and a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field. Expected salary range is $70,000-$80,000 annually.
