Job Description

Job Description This Program Leader will be responsible for assisting with programming and daily operations at Shorty Howell Park Activity Building. The incumbent will be providing quality customer service to internal personnel and external members of the community and public, including, but not limited to, senior citizens, unhoused or underprivileged populations. Additionally, this position will work with volunteer-run non-profit organizations as well as develop and implement special indoor and outdoor/nature events. Essential Duties Supporting and providing continuous training for part-time staff Assisting in enforcing policies and procedures for facility user groups Interacting with user groups, associations, and other agencies Maintaining safe operating environments and facilities Completing and processing paperwork, including permit requests, and preparing and maintaining various records and reports Assisting with special events and programming for facilities Completing CivicRec entries for camps, programs, and classes Maintaining communication with staff and management Assisting in public relations, including hearing and resolving complaints, as well as publicizing programs and events Performing other duties of a similar nature Public Speaking Representing and participating in tours or special events. This position requires continuous interaction with the public and co-workers. Other Job Requirements/Information Must be able to work a variety of hours, weekends, daytime, evenings, and holidays Grade The grade for this position is B22(1). Salary will be dependent on education and experience. Effective 4/11/2023, this position is eligible for the Employee Referral Program. Minimum Qualifications Associate degree in parks and recreation, health and human services, senior services, history, education, or related field One year of experience An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job, such as those listed above, will also be considered. CPR and First Aid certification (within the first 6 months of employment) Valid driver's license
Preferred Qualifications Experience:
Recreation programming and special events Summer camp programs Scheduling, reserving rental facilities, and working on a rental reservation system Senior citizens in a recreational setting Working with Unhoused or Underprivileged populations Developing and implementing special events, including nature/outdoor oriented Dealing with non-profit, volunteer-run programs Microsoft Office For information related to position-specific essential duties, knowledge and skills, and physical requirements, please click here .
