Job Description

The Foster Care Recruiter Licensing & Training Coordinator is an administrative position which involves the coordination of recruitment efforts, providing and coordinating the training of potential and licensed foster parents. Additionally, the person in this position will facilitate and maintain the licensing and approval of the re-evaluation of qualified parents in the Resource Development Department. Incumbents are responsible for assisting with advertising and promoting the therapeutic foster care services provided by the organization and enrolling interested families in the training programs required by State and Care4All regulations. Additional activities associated with the job includes coordinating aspects of the Resource Development Department. This includes scheduling the sessions and maintaining training records. Additional responsibilities include public speaking engagements in the community and virtually to inform community groups regarding the need for foster parents. The Incumbent will write and edit articles/flyers and other communications to provide information about the organization to the public and monitor the ongoing training needs of parents who have completed the initial training sessions to ensure program compliance.
QUALIFICATIONS
(Education and Experience) Ø Graduation from an accredited four -year college or university with a B.A. (B.S.) Degree in Social Services, Child Development, Psychology, Education, or closely related field; Must be computer literate, thorough knowledge of therapeutic foster care regulations; a minimum of two years' experience working with special needs children; or an advanced degree in social work or a comparable human service field; ability to work independently and maintain a caseload; ability to make consistent and objective decisions in a timely manner; strong organizational and interpersonal skills; excellent public speaking and writing skills; or any equivalent combination of education or experience to provide the following knowledge, abilities and skills. Considerable knowledge of IMPACT, SAFE, Behavioral Modification, or other curriculum required by the State for foster parents. Considerable knowledge of State licensure and training requirements for foster care providers. Considerable knowledge of the State's rules and regulations pertaining to therapeutic foster care programs including required documentation, frequency of contacts, etc. Considerable knowledge of State licensure and training requirements for foster parents. Knowledge of child development, developmental disabilities, and family dynamics. Knowledge of behavior management techniques and interventions utilized with children and young adults. Knowledge of the resources available in the community to assist foster children with established developmental objectives and life plans. Knowledge of legal documents and judicial proceedings pertaining to the placement and custody of foster children. Knowledge of psychotropic medications used to treat behavioral disorders in children. Ability to schedule and coordinate training sessions for prospective and licensed foster parents. Ability to make effective public presentations to small and large groups pertaining to the foster care program. Ability to compose and edit informational material for advertisement and recruiting initiatives. Ability to interact with foster children and families in a sensitive and objective manner. Ability to make consistent and sound decisions regarding the care and safety of children in the homes. Ability to conduct effective and informative training sessions for prospective and/or current foster parents. Other duties assigned by Supervisor Necessary Special Requirements
  • Possession of a valid Georgia Driver's License
  • Must have vehicle liability insurance
  • Must have a car to use daily for work, and to be able to drive legally
  • Trained as a state train the trainer in IMPACT and Trauma
  • Knowledgeable of the GA-Regulations in Foster Care 1014 & 1015
  • Knowledge of CPS Rule 8, licensing a Foster Home in Georgia and all policy requirements by the state
  • Knowledge of the current RBWO Minimum Standards
  • Certified to write SAFE home study assessments
Effective Communication Skills Specific Responsibilities:
  • Complete initial inquiries of prospective foster parents and annual interviews of licensed foster parents.
  • Conduct home visits with individuals and/or couples who expressed interest in becoming a foster parent
  • Create flyers/ brochures and other training and recruitment materials when necessary.
  • Make presentations to civic clubs, church groups, and other community organizations to inform them about foster care, the need for foster care families, and the services provided by the organization.
  • Write detailed home study assessments of potential foster parents and detailed re-evaluations of licensed foster homes.

  • Sensitivity to service recipients' ethnic, cultural and economic backgrounds, as well as physical or behavioral health challenges.

  • Attend and actively participate in internal and external trainings as required.
