Because of the temporary nature of these appointments, Casual Hire employees are not eligible for most benefits as provided to regular BOR and Civil Service employees such as paid leave and holidays. Casual Hire appointments may last for up to 89 days for full-time employees and up to one calendar year for part-time employees.

Description of Duties:
Provide curriculum development and guidance to ensure content is practical, relevant, and aligned with farmer needs. Responsibilities include delivering instructions and monitoring the progress and performance of students. Teaching assigned courses, preparing syllabi and course materials related to the discipline including business management, project management and/or leadership development. Identify and engage guest speakers, panelists, and host farms for hands-on learning components. Support recruitment efforts by connecting with farmer networks and promoting the program. Advise on program delivery (pacing, tools, examples) to ensure participant engagement and applicability. Support quality of instruction and alignment across modules. Help connect participants to broader farming networks and resources. Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Master's degree in Agriculture, Conservation, Business, Development, Economics, Education or related field OR Bachelor's degree in Agriculture, Conservation, Business, Development, Economics, Education or related field and 3 years of related work experience. Experience in agricultural education, training, or curriculum development. Strong connections within the local farming community. Ability to collaborate with program staff and external partners.
Desired Qualifications:
Experience developing or leading farmer training programs (e.g., apprenticeship or mentoring programs). Familiarity with Hawaii agricultural systems and networks. Experience facilitating workshops or training sessions. Ability to recruit and engage with various participants in the farming community.
