Job Description
The domicile for this position will be determined in collaboration with the hiring supervisor and the successful candidate. The options are Ames, Fort Dodge, Mason City, and Marshalltown Probation/Parole Offices.
Hours:
This is a variable schedule position which includes day, evening, and occasional weekend hours to provide treatment services and accommodate client schedules. Embark on a career with purpose! The Iowa Department of Corrections - Second District, is seeking a passionate individual to join our team as a Community Corrections Program Coordinator. Duties of this position include, but are not limited to: Develops, implements, coordinates and oversee cognitive interventions and treatment programs in our district- Uses advanced knowledge/skills in effective intervention strategies to influence lasting behavior change and to improve outcomes
- Facilitates and coordinates Department programming to include the Iowa Domestic Abuse Program and other cognitive behavioral and evidence based interventions to justice involved individuals with a high level of proficiency and fidelity to the curriculum
- Models the curriculum principles in all group settings and in all communications with justice involved individuals
- Builds high quality therapeutic relationships with justice involved individuals Recognizes and identifies anti-social characteristics of group participants and uses evidence based strategies to address difficult participant behaviors that do not align with curriculum's principles
- Role plays with justice involved individuals when necessary to assist them in gaining an understanding of the principles and to provide practice of newly learned skills. Functions as a treatment/evidence based practices expert for the Department
- Serves as a lead facilitator in multiple educational/treatment groups with justice involved individuals facilitating curriculum in a highly skilled manner while addressing inappropriate behavior
- Leads training classes and seminars, provided training of trainers, and provides continuous quality improvement to other departmental staff
- Represents the District at statewide meetings and articulates the needs of the District with regard to programming
- Provides continuous quality improvement to other departmental staff
- Reviews and audits work checking for quality, fidelity and proficiency Collaborates with committees and work groups based on expertise of different programming areas to plan and implement initiatives and projects
- Collaborates for curricula development, review and revisions
- Educates and trains key stakeholders, including but not limited to: community partners, supervising officers, law enforcement, the Court, crime survivors and their advocates/liaisons, the Iowa Department of Health and Human Services regarding evidence based programming, dosage, RNR Principles (Risk, Needs, Responsivity) and Core Correctional Practices and lays out how all of these fit together to reduce recidivism •Plans for programming expansion and improvement and implements action steps of plans Communicates and problem solves with justice involved individuals and the people who support them •Explains process, policies, eligibility and resources •Displays expert knowledge and proficient application of validated assessment tools that identify risk, needs, protective factors, and responsivity for the purpose of developing high quality effective supervision case plans and intensive intervention strategies targeted at reducing recidivism •Refers justice involved individuals to interventions that address individualized needs •Monitors participation, compliance and progress in interventions Documents and communicates participants progress with participants, the courts, crime survivors, the Iowa Department of Health and Human Services, probation and parole officers, and other referral sources •Tracks participants intervention attendance •Creates records of attendance, participation, completions and non-compliance •Composes notification and progress report emails to interested parties and referral sources Researches, plans, implements and evaluates new and emerging evidence based and promising interventions/programs and practices for justice involved individuals in the community based corrections setting •Proposes program revisions based on current research •Identifies and implements additional evidence based programming to meet the needs of justice involved individuals •Develop program policy and procedures •Implements new curricula ensuring fidelity to the program is maintained •Collects and interprets data and evaluates outcomes of justice involved individuals who participate in evidence based programming and interventions What we offer We have a competitive total compensation package for all our full-time employees, including: • Annual salary ranging from $60,548.
