GENERAL JOB SUMMARY
Hiring:
1 Program Advisor Reporting to the Director of the TRIO Upward Bound Math and Science Program, the Program Advisor is responsible for assisting with the administration, implementation, and continuation of the TRIO Upward Bound Math and Science (UBMS) program. The UBMS program is dedicated to increasing high school retention rates, improving financial and economic literacy, and increasing post-secondary enrollment and completion rates. UBMS serves students who meet income-eligibility guidelines, are potential first-generation college students, and/or demonstrate a need for assistance in the college enrollment process. The Program Advisor is an integral part of this program. This position will recruit and serve an assigned caseload of program participants in 9th
  • 12th grade.
This position will work primarily at their assigned high school sites (Midland and Washington communities), provide advising, and facilitate workshops for program participants and their families. The typical work schedule will be Monday through Friday from 8 am to 5 pm with some extra hours in June and July. This position is grant-funded with current funding scheduled to end August 31, 2027. Continuation of this position beyond the current funding period depends on the grant's renewal.

  • 12th grade Provide academic advising, personal, college, career, financial literacy, and financial aid information and workshops to program participants Build positive relationships with site principals, counselors, teachers, and families Assist in the implementation of a 6-week summer academy plan and attend field trips and other program activities Assist high school students with college and financial aid applications Establish and maintain accurate and confidential program participant files with required documentation Document all contacts with program participants on Individual and/or Group Service Logs and program database Comply with grant and federal regulations Be able to drive Kirkwood vehicles, including a 12-passenger van Be able to work extended hours during June and July Perform other related work duties as assigned
