Job Description
Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated Parent Mentor Program Coordinator to join our team in Freeport, IL. The Parent Mentor Program Coordinator (PMC) plays a vital role in supporting the success of the Parent Mentor Program. This is a meaningful opportunity to empower parents, strengthen school communities, and make a direct impact on education and family engagement in McHenry County. If you are passionate about community building and leadership development, we encourage you to apply. Duties Educate stakeholders (including schools, community leaders, and elected officials) about PMP's impact. Recruit, interview, and supervise Parent Mentors. Maintain strong relationships with teachers, administrators, parents, and community partners. Ensure PMP aligns with the year-long work plan across assigned schools. Coordinate daily PMP activities in schools, including classroom. Train and support Parent Mentors to succeed in classrooms and community engagement. Assist with the 5-day initial PMP training (Train the Trainer model). Organize and lead professional development workshops for Parent Mentors. Help plan and support one Parent Mentor-led community event per year. Support statewide meetings, training sessions, and workshops to enhance program effectiveness. Track and submit timesheets, stipends, and financial documentation in compliance with policies. Submit monthly reports on program activities and outcomes. Requirements Associates degree or 2+ years of related work experience (nonprofit, outreach, or community organizing preferred). Strong organizational and leadership skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Strong communication and interpersonal skills with diverse populations. Knowledge of local community agencies and resources. Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred. Ability to travel locally for outreach activities and events. Flexible schedule to support school and community activities. Background check is required by both the school and the organization.
