Job Description

About the Role CEASe of Scott County is seeking a dedicated and organized Youth Mentor . In this vital role, you will provide direct support to youth engaged in the juvenile justice system, facilitate peer-led groups, and ensure the program meets the highest standards of care and documentation. You will be the bridge between our participants, local schools, community partners, and referral sources, helping individuals navigate their path toward success. Key Responsibilities As a peer, your duties will span program intake, group facilitation, one-on-one support, and documentation:
Daily Operations & Facilitation:
Oversee day-to-day program activities, including transporting clients to/from the facility and facilitating peer support or educational groups.
Case Management:
Conduct initial intakes and develop comprehensive intervention plans for all clients.
Monitoring:
Administer and follow up on mental health screening tools to monitor participant mental health and progress, including referrals to and collaboration with clinical services.
Documentation:
Maintain accurate records of group sessions and participant interactions.
Community Liaison:
Facilitate referrals to care and collaboration with community partners to ensure participants meet their individual goals.
Qualifications Lived Experience:
Must have personal, lived experience in recovery from substance use or a co-occurring mental health disorder (required).
Employment Experience:
Proven experience in a peer support (criminal justice/diversion programs a plus)
Skills:
Strong group facilitation skills and the ability to build rapport with diverse populations.
Technical Literacy:
Proficiency in documentation systems (experience with Redcap is a plus) and Microsoft Office.
Requirements:
Must have a valid driver's license and a clean driving record for client transportation.
Credential:
Must hold or be eligible for a Peer credential.
Attributes:
High level of empathy, excellent communication skills, self-driven and a "problem-solver" mindset. Advanced Determination of Suitability for Working with
Minors:
Criminal record is acceptable; however, the candidate may not have a criminal history involving minors, sex offenses, violence, or DCS substantiations. May not be actively engaged with the justice system.
Pay:
Up to $45,000.00 per year
