(BL-EDUC-IUBLA) Job Summary The mission of the Center for Education Innovation and Entrepreneurship (CEIE) is to integrate the most transformative high-impact trends spanning P-12, higher education, and workforce training that are reshaping how people learn, work, and thrive. We move ideas from concept to tested, scalable solutions by combining rigorous academic research with the creativity and agility of leading innovators and guidance from experienced industry-successful mentors. Department Specific Responsibilities Provides operational and project management support for the CEIE, ensuring all programs and activities are run smoothly and achieve their goals. Works under the direction of the CEIE Director, this position designs, plans, and coordinates day-to-day activities across CEIE's 4 pillars to implement the strategic vision of the CEIE (academic programs, entrepreneurship support, Evergreen venture fund operations support and research and development). Designs, plans and coordinates CEIE programs and events. This includes venture studio course logistics, workshops, showcases and partner convenings. Supports implementation of the CEIE Venture Studio by coordinating faculty and student teams, tracking venture milestones, arranging mentor meetings, and documenting project plans and timelines, as directed by the Director and faculty leads. Activity recruits students, faculty and partners into CEIE programs using established channels and by researching new venues and methods of recruitment. Manages CEIE program operations with collaborative units, including IU Innovates, the Kelley School of Business, and other IU schools, ensuring that timelines, activities, and information flows are aligned with agreements set by the Director. Oversees communications and serves as liaison to program participants, collaborators in other units, community partners, vendors, and the public on operational and logistical matters. Constructs and administers CEIE program budgets at the operational level, tracks expenditures, processes purchasing and travel requests, and prepares reports on projected and actual spending for the Director and higher management. Researches available grants and funding opportunities aligned with CEIE activities and assists the Director and School stab in creating funding proposals and writing grant reports. Supports basic tracking and documentation related to CEIE Evergreen Fund awards and other internal funding (e.g., seed grants to ventures), maintaining clear records of awards, deliverables, and timelines. General Responsibilities Plans, directs and implements programs or events, including the creation of materials to support these events. Provides staff communications and serves as liaison to program participants, collaborators in other units, community partners, vendors and the public. Approves staff purchase requests; arranges staff travel, accommodations, and research activities. Provides mechanisms, training, and advice on a variety of issues such as budget management software and advanced strategies for timely spending of grant funds. May be responsible for meeting revenue targets. Recruits, trains, directs, schedules, and evaluates faculty and staff partners, students and volunteers. Mentors, serves as a resource and provides guidance to team staff members as needed. Researches available grants and works closely with managers to identify funding needs and potential sources, creates grant proposals that further advance support of the program and program participants. May be responsible for meeting revenue targets. Constructs and administers program budgets and approves spending. Tracks progress on deliverables, analyzes data on projected spending and prepares reports for higher management and funding sources. Keeps abreast of best practices to recommend policies and procedures that deliver a quality program experience. Qualifications Combinations of related education and experience may be considered. EDUCATION
Required Bachelor's degree.
WORK EXPERIENCE
Required 2 years in related field. Preferred 5 years of relevant experience in program management, project management, higher education administration or a related field preferred. SKILLS Required Proficient communication skills. Maintains a high degree of professionalism. Demonstrates time management and priority setting skills. Demonstrates a high commitment to quality. Possesses flexibility to work in a fast paced, dynamic environment. Seeks to acquire knowledge in area of specialty. Highly thorough and dependable. Preferred Experience working in a university center, research institute, innovation/entrepreneurship hub, or startup/social enterprise environment. Experience with event planning, workshop or conference coordination, and managing co-curricular or co-branded programs across units. Familiarity with basic venture development concepts (design thinking, pilots, lean experimentation) and/or education innovation settings. Experience with grant development, grant reporting, or managing externally funded projects. Experience supervising student workers or coordinating small project teams. Working Conditions / Demands This role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment. The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around an office environment and the campus.
