Job Description

We are hiring for a Director of Impact! We are looking for someone who understands data analysis and grant reporting, is skilled in public speaking, is passionate about serving our community, possesses strong leadership skills, can effectively manage and coach others to build a high-performing team, and has a strategic mindset, as this person will serve on our Leadership Team. This individual will have five direct reports who oversee our Volunteer Program, Community Education Program, Youth Initiatives Program, Community Food Access (Mobile Distribution) Programs, and Data Analysis efforts. The Director of Impact will occasionally work evenings and weekends to support events and will travel periodically for conferences and other community engagement opportunities. This position will begin on January 11 . A cover letter is required to be considered for this role. Impact Team Manager Purpose Summary :
The Director of Impact leads the strategy, evaluation, and continuous improvement of Second Harvest Food Bank's programs and community education initiatives. This role ensures that all Impact work is community‑centered, data‑driven, compliant with Feeding America standards, and aligned with organizational goals. The Director of Impact strengthens program effectiveness, operational coordination, and mission impact across the eight‑county service area by building systems that support organizational learning, performance management, and cross‑departmental alignment.

Role Responsibilities:
Lead the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of SHFB's impact strategy across all programs and initiatives Guide program teams in developing community-centered, evidence-informed programs that align with organizational goals Maintain an active presence in SHFB programs and initiatives to understand operations, support teams, and inform decisions Establish logic models, success indicators, data-collection methods, and evaluation plans for each program area Supervise four Managers and one Specialist through consistent coaching, observation, feedback, and skill development Serve as the initial point of contact for groups seeking to become partner agencies or participate in SHFB programs Ensure compliance with Feeding America guidelines for agencies and programs Manage consistent quantitative and qualitative data collection across SHFB initiatives, partner agencies, and community stakeholders Produce timely, accurate, and consistent reporting for leadership, Board, funders, and partners Lead evaluation and reflection cycles, analyze findings, develop projections and outcomes, and guide continuous improvement Partner with the COO and department leaders on annual planning, goal setting, performance metrics, and cross-departmental alignment Contribute effectively in leadership meetings and skillfully plan and facilitate team meetings Support risk management, compliance, and quality assurance for program operations Collaborate with Finance to align program budgets with strategic priorities Improve efficiency through process mapping, systems development, and technology adoption Monitor KPIs and dashboards to assess program performance Build and maintain relationships with partner agencies, community organizations, and stakeholders Represent SHFB in coalitions, community meetings, and collaborative initiatives Provide program data and impact narratives to support fundraising and communications Model a clear commitment to SHFB's mission and foster a positive, inclusive, and mission-driven team culture grounded in Radical Candor, equity, and transparency
Required Qualifications :
Education:
Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred
Experience:
5-10 years in program leadership, evaluation, organizational effectiveness, or related fields Experience supervising staff and leading cross‑functional teams Demonstrated success in data analysis, program evaluation, and impact reporting Experience with compliance, quality assurance, or operational systems preferred
Skills:
Strong strategic planning and systems‑thinking abilities Strong coaching and supervisory skills, including observation, feedback, and team development Ability to collect and analyze impact data to develop projections and outcomes Willingness to engage directly in SHFB programs and initiatives Ability to contribute in leadership meetings and skillfully lead team meetings Clear understanding of and commitment to SHFB's mission Excellent communication, writing, and presentation skills Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) Strong project and time-management skills Ability to work independently and collaboratively Ability to interpret and clearly communicate statistical data Ability to collaborate with diverse colleagues and community partners Valid driver's license and personal vehicle Ability to lift 20 lbs. and work at a computer for extended periods
Training Required :
Manager-level SERV Safe certification Evaluation and data‑systems training Leadership development and performance‑management training Equity‑centered workplace and cultural‑competency training IT security and data‑protection training (as relevant to program systems)
Working Conditions :
Primarily office‑based with regular presence in program and community environments Travel required across the eight‑county service area Must be able to sit, stand, or walk for extended periods Ability to navigate warehouse and program settings as needed Hybrid work flexibility may be available depending on organizational needs
Pay:
$70,000.00 per year
