A Program Officer oversees the development of an organization's programs. This may includes staff development, project management, implementation and daily management of activities. May also oversee funds and budgets.
La Escuelita Learning Hub is a trauma-informed after-school and summer program of Beechmont Presbyterian Church done in partnership with the Ministerio Latino Presbiteriano de Preston Highway. La Escuelita works with immigrant students, 90% of whom are from Hispanic families and 10% from Sudanese families. The program assists students with homework, literacy, and learning English. Sports, games, and enrichment activities are provided as well as mental health services, snacks and meals. La Escuelita gives the students a safe place to "be themselves" in a setting where their cultural identity is affirmed. The program is offered to immigrant students without regard to religious affiliation; religious activities are not included in the programing. La Escuelita Learning Hub has a vibrant parent program which includes mental health services and parenting classes, as well as case management for the students' families to connect them with social services.
POSITION DESCRIPTION
The La Escuelita Welcome and Hospitality Assistant will be responsible for welcoming the children, engaging with them and providing supervision of activities and meals/snacks at the La Escuelita Learning Hub.
Welcome and Hospitality Assistant responsibilities:
Greeting and welcoming the students as they arrive at the after-school program. Taking attendance and doing an "emotional pulse check" with students as they arrive, helping them to identify their emotions, sharing any concerns noted with the director. Supervising snack time and intentionally engaging with the students, offering a listening ear and providing students with a "safe space" to talk about their day. Providing oversight of students in various areas of the first floor of the program site including small fellowship hall, game room, kitchen and hallway and organizing board games. Using effective tools to help the students manage their emotions and behavior; training will be provided. Serving meals at La Escuelita's Dare to Care Kids Café, according to FDA protocols, and then supervising the students as they eat in the small fellowship room. Working with the students to keep the small fellowship hall and kitchen neat and tidy with special attention to recycling protocols. Communicating with other program staff/volunteers via walkie talkies when students leave the small fellowship room or game room and go to another program area, such as the gym or art and literacy classrooms. Working with the Director to ensure security for the students by making sure that the door to the program facility is locked at all times by being the person to consistently answer the doorbell (communicating with the director if there are any security concerns before opening the door) and following all other team security protocols. Supervise or/and play games or board games with the students. Supervise students when playing in the gym. Participating in field trips and helping to supervise the students. Assisting in decorating and set up/take down for events. Assisting the Director in organization of monthly evening parent meetings and provision of activities for the students. Participating in weekly check-ins with the director. Attending monthly team meetings with other staff and volunteers which include training and opportunity for input into the program. Provide supervision as needed based on staffing, student, and program needs. Move between areas as needed to support student and program needs.

QUALIFICATIONS
Required:
United States citizen, United States national, lawful permanent resident of the United States or an individual having a United States work permit At least 20 years of age Have a high school diploma or GED Respect for people of different cultures who speak languages other than English Patience in interacting with children, inclusive of those with behavioral challenges Speak, read, and write English fluently Dedication to community service Organized, responsible, flexible, high ethical standards, motivated and professional Ability to accept and incorporate constructive feedback from the Director Ability to work with diverse personalities and ethnicities Ability to perform limited amounts of physical/manual labor Ability to provide own transportation to and from the program site Background check (provide by organizations) Complete a

September 1st, 2025 - July 30, 2027 11 months of service Approximately 12.5 hours per week are completed both during and after school hours ( most hours between 3:00 PM and 7:30 PM M - Th, with occasional weekend activities/field trips which would not occur more than once a month)
Summer:
