Job Description

HarborCOV is expanding our children's support staff team! The children's support staff positions are part-time, hourly paid positions. We are looking for bilingual candidates (English, Spanish, Arabic, and/or Portuguese) that have experience working with children from infancy to 12 years old to provide safe, structured, fun, and engaging activities for our youth community. A flexible schedule is ideal, as our need for support spans mornings, afternoons, evenings. Ideal candidates will have a reliable work history, can work cooperatively with team members as well as independently, has exceptional assessment, listening, communication, problem solving, and de-escalation skills, shows sensitivity towards the impact of domestic violence on children and families, has a deep understanding of culturally relevant, strength-based strategies within an economic and social justice framework for working with survivors, the boarder communities, and the entire HarborCOV team. REPORTS TO
Youth Specialist Competencies Effective, supportive and culturally appropriate skills while working with children and their parents Effective facilitation skills with children of different age groups Solid communication skills and strong problem-solving ability Basic computer skills and knowledge of educational software Understanding of the effects of domestic violence on children and working with child witnesses to violence Thorough understanding of state-mandated reporting guidelines Demonstrated understanding of culturally relevant, strength-based strategies within an anti-racism, and economic and social justice framework Responsibilities Maintain strict confidentiality in respect to children and families participating in activities Maintain a clean, safe and welcoming environment for children from infancy to 12 years old, including creating and maintaining fun and multicultural children's space that reflects current events Provide age-appropriate creative and learning activities that supports children in transition Provide snacks for children at designated times with awareness around food allergies Assist children with cleaning up the playroom areas Record accurate and up-to-date daily data in online organizational data management system When necessary, immediately report incidents and/or accidents to the Youth Specialist and complete accurate Incident Reports Notify the Youth Specialist immediately on any suspected abuse or neglect of a child Support direct service staff during holiday and other special events related to children Actively participate in supervision and required trainings to promote continuity in high-quality services, meaningful leadership and a supportive agency-wide culture that fosters accountability and ongoing skill-building Adhere to strict organizational confidentiality and conflict of interest policies Work with the staff, Board of Directors, volunteers and interns to promote understanding and advancement of the HarborCOV mission, philosophy and programmatic goals The base pay is $20/per hour.
