The Program Coordinator is a 35-hour weekly position that is responsible for planning, implementing, and evaluating programs and services that support older adults in the community. This role ensures that social, recreational, educational and wellness support services are accessible, high quality and aligned with the mission of the Council on Aging. They also manage the Senior Center volunteers.
Essential Functions:
The essential functions or duties listed below are intended only as illustrations of the various types of work that may be performed. Plan, organize and implement a diverse calendar of programs, classes and events for older adults; regularly reviews schedule with the Director. Coordinate daily operations of Center programs including room scheduling, set-up and basic logistics. Serve as the initial point of contact for participants and provide information regarding Council on Aging/Senior Center programs and services. Encourage participation in activities and education programs to promote well-being and healthy lifestyles for older adults. Keep current with active older adults' trends and seeks new programmatic ideas to meet the needs of the Town residents. Develop and maintain partnerships with local agencies, health providers, community groups and volunteers to expand offerings. Recruit, screen, and conduct placement of volunteers; orient new volunteers to COA programs and policies including client confidentiality. Assist Director with CORI checks and manages volunteer schedules. Assist older adults in accessing resources such as transportation, nutrition programs, benefits counseling and social services, make referrals to other departments as deemed appropriate. Develop and publicize program materials including flyers and social media content to inform clients and community of programs and services to promote participation. Develop content for newsletter design and work with LPI to publish the monthly newsletter. Oversee layout content of the monthly newsletter in collaboration with LPI. Support events, fundraisers and community initiatives.Track program attendance and participation:
assist with surveys and feedback to evaluate services. Prepare monthly and annual reports. Maintain accurate records and data in accordance with grants. Assist with grant reporting, statistics, documentation and related programs.QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or equivalent, with some experience in human services, elder care, social work, or a related field. Associate's degree preferred; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Human Services, Social Work, Gerontology, Recreation, or a related field is desirable. One to two years of related experience, preferably in a municipal or community‑based elder services setting, or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Experience coordinating programs, events, or volunteers is a plus. Experience working with older adults and/or in human services, community programming, or recreation is strongly preferred.Special requirements:
